We had the pleasure of being transported to India on a recent hosted experience at the amazing restaurant Annapurna in San Diego, California ☀️
We were invited to try their weekend lunch buffet. Each bite left us satisfied, yet craving more. Here’s what we loved:
👉 tamarind chutney: bold flavor with a citrus twist 👉 the naan and poori were warm and soft 👉 the okra pakoda was super flavorful 👉 the spinach dal was the perfect texture and taste 👉 the eggplant potato curry was a delightful combination of eggplant and flavor-packed spices that left all of us wanting more 👉 the channa masala was delightfully delicious and satisfying 👉 the sambar was savory perfection
If you are either an Indian food lover or curious to give it a try, we highly recommend this buffet. It will give you the opportunity to taste everything and go back for what you want more of. Which is exactly what our two kids did!! The menu is extensive and sure to satisfy any flavor palette and desire. 😋
It’s in a fantastic location in a shopping plaza with ample parking. All tables were full at lunch hour with a constant stream of customers eating there as well as getting takeout. The space is clean and comfortable, and makes for a lovely family meal 🍽️
According to the restaurant: “Annapurna, a Sanskrit word means full or complete or perfect food. We believe that the purpose of food is not only to increase longevity and bodily strength, but also to purify the mind and consciousness.” A set of values we truly support and can get behind 🌱🫶🏻
This kitchen has done a lovely job adding plenty of plant-based items to the menu that are packed with freshness and flavor. We highly recommend and can’t wait to...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant for their Saturday lunch buffet, and I was highly disappointed. It's evident that they hike up the prices for the weekend buffet compared to the weekdays, which seems unjustified given the quality of experience.
Service - I see on one table water spilled from a kid and the girl working there first cleaned the floor with a dirty towel and cleaned the table with the same towel. This is disgusting. In general you can see their is a lack of cleanliness in this restaurant. Their is a disabled guy who is sitting in the corner is making loud comments stating the kid is eating so much and you will pay half the price. He also seems to be staring in customers plate like to make sure how much they are eating.
Food - As for the food, it was a dismal affair. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options lacked any discernible flavor and appeared to have been sitting out for days. After sampling a few items, I promptly decided to leave within mere minutes of arriving.
Atmosphere- The ambiance of the restaurant only added to the disappointment. Playing loud and cheap dance music. The overall lack of cleanliness was glaringly obvious – from the dingy bathroom tucked away in a dark corner to the visibly dirty tables and cutlery. Adding insult to injury, they had the audacity to leave dirty towels next to patrons' plates and provide low-quality tissues on the tables, further highlighting their disregard for basic...
Read moreI have to say i was very dissapointed. i live in south of USA and we are from south India and went looking for south Indian food. When we called we were told that since it was saturday the parking lot will be full and we may have to park on street. But when we went there the parking lot was empty!!! - ON A SATURDAY. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG RED FLAG BUT WE DID NOT LISTEN TO OUR INNER VOICES AND WENT IN.
As soon as we entered there was a wierd stench of stale food.
We ordered masala dosa which was decent in tste but nowehere to compare to myosre masala dosa. We then ordered a onion dosa - which was half baked and tasteless. Chutney given was totally not up to the mark and smelled a bit stale.
same thing with idli vada and sambar - tasteless.
Besides the waiter kept on asking us how is the food we had to bear the anguish of eating the food and kept grinning.
The next day my 3 year old developed diarrhea after eating there.I was totally ticked off by this.
I truly was wishing this restaurant to be a good south indian one but it thoroughly dissapointed us.
Of course we went to other restaurants for...
