A! MAZING!! To say the least. I'm from Iowa, born and raised. It wasn't until I began travelling outside of the midwest before I started appreciating midwestern meats. Having lived in California for a few months now, Iowa Meat Farms is a Godsend for meat eaters!!! The meat anywhere outside of the midwest, (no offense), is terrible. I never realized or appreciated the flavorful juiciness and marbling of midwest meat until I ledt home. I almost became pescatarian until I found, Iowa Meat Farms, here in San Diego! The prices are fair considered their meats are imported all the way from Iowa and Nebraska. I picked up some top sirloin steaks, which were on sale, and they were SO delicious!!! I felt like I was back in Iowa eating a home cooked meal. I'm so glad I don't have to change my eating habits now that I have a little piece of Iowa, here in in San Diego. The butchers were so friendly and helpful, you'd think they were transplants from the Midwest too!! Nutrition is a vital part of our health. The way meat is raised is what makes it healthy or unhealthy. Rest assured, you will get the best of both healthy and phenomenally delicious, when you shop from Iowa...
Read moreI have been a customer of Iowa Meat Farms for many years now and shop there almost exclusively for meat. I know the prices are higher than you're going to pay in the grocery store, but considering the quality you get in return, I think it is well worth it. At this point there is little that IMF sells that I haven't had, from their plain cuts of beef, to pork roasts, to their marinaded chicken, or house made sausages (of which there are many varieties and often some new types rotating in).
As for the service, I find that I have good, friendly service far more often than not, and I have never felt unwelcome. Sure there have been busier days, always around the holidays, where the staff's focus seems to be on moving customers in and out as fast as possible, but that isn't exactly surprising.
The only thing currently detracting from my experience at IMF is the lack of grass fed beef options. It's definitely the way things are going, and I feel like IMF could really help to open the door to top quality and easily available grass fed beef...
Read moreBust! Went on 6/3 to get premium baby backs for the 4th. Asked for 3 racks because the ones in the case didn’t look good. They got a 3 pack from the back and held it up, I trusted them because the place is suppose to be legit. Wrapped them up and I was on my way. Felt uncomfortable about them so I called. I asked if there ribs were the Swift brand…same as Costco? Answer was NO. “We get ours from Vande Rose.” In the past they just say the Midwest. Try asking where their meat comes from. They don’t know. When I finally got an answer (lie) I thought this is going to be a good 4th. Unwrapped them and of coarse the exact same ribs as Costco!! Paid for over priced ribs I could have driven 10 mins instead 30. Come on what Legit Butcher sells Costco’s meat at a higher price? Makes me wonder where else they get their meat from then charge more. Know your product and stop...
