I just frequently started coming in after new ownership and tbh I had no complaints nor mind the raised prices for their services. I’ve been with a couple of the ladies for pedicures and all were great, especially removing ingrowns! Nina is great overall, she’s a perfectionist which I can appreciate paying for a service and also easy to speak to! Unfortunately after my experience on 07/07/25, I will not be returning. I called later in the afternoon if they had time for acrylic because I have my babyshower at the end of the week. Once I got in I was paired with Kayla ( for the first time). Since the beginning , the vibes were off but I kept putting trust that I’ll walk out a happy customer, as I’ve always had before. It just seemed like the Manicurist did not want to be there at all. Furthermore, it’s peak summer so the only air flow in this establishment was the front and back door being left open. Causing bugs and flies constantly flying around us throughout the service. Before we started I showed her a few inspo pictures and asked if they were possible also asked to make minor adjustments I had envisioned for my upcoming event, Kayla seemed confident. I wished I trust my gut and just paid for what I had and came back when Nina was working or to another salon I used to go to that’s further out the way from me. My nails did not come out nearly as close as the inspo picture. The chrome that was used was a yellow gold and I asked if they had other shades we can try. Instead Kayla responded “ that’s the only one we have. I will remove and we can just put glitter” which kind of defeated the purpose because I came in with a different vision and was reassured that this was possible. I even said “ I wished you told me sooner that you didn’t have this chrome from the beginning” At this point Kayla seemed like I was an inconvenience, tight lip, and was filing the stuff off my nail and buffed even more aggressively while squeezing my fingers. I am nearly 9 mos pregnant, so my emotions got the best of me and I kept having to apologize for wanting a certain look for my baby shower. I was open to suggestions or even try a different design altogether if the initial was never possible to begin with. If you can see what I left with, uneven, short thin rounded nails that don’t suit my nails/ hands whatsoever; poor French tips, no apex at all and bumpy nails. Acrylic leakage that were not even bothered to be filed off on multiple sidewalls. Some were even top coated and cured with so much lint and I didn’t even realize until walking out. At that point I just wanted to get out of there. Opposite from the long sharper almond I asked for. She did not even attempt to make it right, she just wanted to top coat and call it a day. I really do not write reviews, and try to reason with people, but this was unacceptable. I won’t be...
Read moreI went with a friend so we could each get a facial. This place is set up primarily for nails. While they do offer facials, they are not set up to handle more than one spa customer at a time.
They only have one machine that steams the skin and has a bright magnified light for extractions. So, they steamed my skin to open the pores, then wheeled the machine out to work on my friend. They used a vacuum machine under a bright light to search for blackheads and remove them for my friend, but they did not do this for me - despite the fact that we were both charged the same price.
Honestly, if I want to rub cleaners into my skin and/or give myself a mask, I can do that at home. If I pay for a facial, it is because I want extractions. The did this fine for my friend, but I was disappointed in what they did for me.
Also, the lady who worked on me and gave me a facial massage wasn't very gentle and at times she was actually hitting my face (gently, but I found it off-putting and not relaxing). My friend reports that they were really gentle with her, however.
The technicians my friend & I worked with spoke English OK, but the individual who scheduled us didn't seem as fluent. Our technicians didn't really make an effort to chat, nor explain what they were about to do/apply on the face (but I also didn't ask). They didn't ask if I was hoping for anything in particular, verify whether I had any allergies or skin sensitivities, nor did they ask about skin type or whether I have had a facial recently. (Some facial products can increase your sensitivity to sunlight, but she didn't mention whether or not this might be an issue and I forgot to ask.)
Mine tech played some relaxing Asian music on her cell phone. However, I could still faintly hear the pop music being played out in the main part of the nail salon. They ended up opening and closing the door to my room several times, which was distracting (particularly since I was wearing a towel wrap for the shoulder massage).
This spa uses products from Dermalogica. They were the professional formulations/not for retail sale. The labels were grey & white, which I believe corresponds to their normal/oily skin line.
This spa offers 3 facials: a 30 minute quick facial, a 60 minute deep-clean European facial, & a 90 minute facial that is supposed to focus on acne control. My friend & I each got the 60 minute European facial, which includes a 10 minute neck/shoulder massage.
The price for this facial was less expensive than another spa in the area. Given the price, I might be willing to go back again in the future, just by myself and I would be more clear about that I want and expect at the beginning of...
Read moreI love how my nails turned out, and everyone is always very nice at Solar Nails that’s why I have been going there for over 5 years, but slowly over time I have began to have cause for a bit of a concern. I have noticed that the prices they tell you or quote you on the phone are not the prices they charge you after you have had the services completed. They did this to a friend of mine that came with me to get a mani & pedi. She paid the same for her mani and pedi that I did for my fill and pedi. And I got 3 different color nails on my hands and feet. I also realized after I left that I was not given my military discount that I was told previous times would be 10%. Any time I would let them know I am military and ask for my military discount I am told it is already deducted from the total price that they are telling me I owe. Which once I look at their prices, isn’t true because they are charging me for every little thing I get.. ( fill, nail polish removal, design, nails filed or cut down, and this is for my hands and my feet) you would think that cutting the nails, filing the nails, and removing the polish would be added into the price of the fill and the pedicure. So today I got my nails done, and after I left some of my polish chipped off so I’ll be returning tomorrow, but also…. I asked for my military discount… and the young lady checking me out was speaking to me in English, but then began to speak to the other ladies in her native language… and then when she was finished she looked back at me and said that the other lady said I could have $2.00 off. $2.00 off was not even close to 10% off of the total price of what I was told I owed. So this really upset me, because I always tip them really well and I still tipped them $20 today. It’s not good business to be dishonest with your customers, especially the ones who are loyal, give you good reviews, tip well, and keep coming back. We will notice, we are not stupid, we all work hard for our money and we do not deserve to be gipped out of it, and lied to. I am very disappointed. The managers were not at the nail salon today. But they were there the previous time when I was overcharged...
