We have been coming to this spot since 2011, but it took me until now to truly realize how bad this place is. I gave it 2 stars because there are a lot of bird supplies which is good but besides that there are a couple negatives.
First, it is dirty here. I’ve seen a cockroach walking around. The cages for the smaller birds are pretty crowded and dirty. Not only that, but they seem to put sick birds in with healthy birds which ends up causing them all to be sick. I had taken my aunt with me once to help me pick out a parakeet (she is knowledgeable about parakeets). She pointed out how almost all of them were sick but we ended up getting a yellow one that appeared to be the healthiest. He ended up dying a month later because he was also sick.
I had a different parakeet that I had gotten from Petco (better spot for parakeets) that I would bring to get his wings and nails cut and for the most part they were good about it.
The moment I realized it wasn’t a good place to go to anymore was when we bought a little baby lineonated parakeet. First off, they’re like $300 so they are expensive babies. As my baby bird started growing I noticed her right wing wasn’t but thought it’s just because she’s still a baby. 8 months later still not grown, but I ended up having to take her to the vet from an injury and they informed us that she would never be able to fly because whoever cut her wings had cut them too short. Whoever is in charge of doing the cutting of the nails and wings needs some training because that’s permanent damange to the poor baby. Clearly, the employees do not have proper training with that. The vet also told us of two other health issues she had so she ended up dying at 8 months. 😞 buy your birds from somewhere else if you want them...
Read moreWe got our budgie babies and our cockatiel baby from Our Feathered Friends. Everyone has been amazingly patient, and kind to us when we've been asking them tons of questions about birds, bird care, food, cages, etc. This is the store I buy our millet from for our feather babies. Amazing customer service, amazing toys, amazing food and bird accessories. We've created a bird playground for our babies in the kitchen and they love it. We started our birds out with clipped wings, but over time have transitioned them to full flight. They love being out of their cages, foraging, playing, singing and exploring for hours on end. Interacting with the birds in the bird room is always a joy. Seeing the bird babies always warms my heart. Whether you're a bird beginner, or a seasoned bird owner and lover, their service, bird care and education to help you and your bird thrive is absolutely next level. 5 Star store, staff, animals, products and service. Their nail and wing trim prices are incredible compared to some other local stores. For birds you buy here, nails and wings are free trimming for life. Very reasonable prices for nails and wings for birds you purchased elsewhere and they always do an amazing job with all our birds. Beyond thrilled to have discovered them and I will sing their praises every chance I...
Read moreAfter visiting Petco, Petsmart, and Birdsmart with very disappointing results, we ended up here. Hands-down this is the best bird shop of all the places we visited.
The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. The store is clean, well stocked, and the birds seem genuinely happy. The birds are kept in a large room, separate from the supplies. There's a limit to the number of customers who can go in the bird room at the same time, and all must sanitize their hands before entering. In the bird room, the birds are happily singing, talking, and playing.
We were looking for parakeets and they have the best selection, with a wide age range and coloration. We ended up with the two gorgeous budgies in my photos. They were only $34.99 here, but are $39.99 at Petco, $49.99 at Petsmart (with limited or no selection), and a ridiculous $139.99 at Birdsmart.
The gal who helped us (Alison) trimmed the birds' wings and nails. She said we have 1 week to return the birds for any reason, and a 1 year exchange policy (for store credit). They also provide wing & nail trimming free for the lifetime of the birds.
They provide cool, shady underground parking. It was an all-around 5-star experience. My only regret is not...
