Today I visited Nail Boss for the first time and will not be returning again, not only because of the poor quality of work and customer service, but for some reason one of the staff misgendered me by calling me “sir” repeatedly even though I was born a female, have long hair, and a feminine voice.
I’ll start first with talking about the service. Lana was the manicurist who did my nails. I asked for coffin shaped nails painted with green cat eye polish. Throughout the service, Lana failed to do my nails exactly how I wanted them and constantly made excuses when I told her. For example, she cut my nail tips shorter on my right hand than my left hand. I asked her if she could extend the length of the nails on my right hand so that it could match my left hand, but she refused and said she would have to make the nails shorter on the left hand in order to have them match. Lana should have made sure that each hand had the same length of nails prior to applying acrylic powder to them. Every nail tech I have been to prior to her always compares each finger prior to applying powder, so I’m not sure why she skipped this step. It wasn’t until her boss came to our table and saw that I was visibly displeased by Lana’s service that Lana finally extended the length of the nails that she made too short. The final product of the nails was absolutely disappointing. I paid $90 just to get a sloppy job which took over 2 hours to complete. You would think with that amount of time, the nails would look better. As you can see in my pictures, the shape is not the same on each nail and barely looks like coffin nails. Lana failed to apply acrylic powder close to the bottom of the nail bed, so my nails already appear as if they are one week old. This is the most horrendous looking full set of nails I have ever received at a nail salon and I was forced to pay $90 for the service. It looks like a third grader did my nails and I am extremely upset that I paid nearly a hundred dollars for such poor quality of nails. Not a single discount or refund was offered, even though I expressed that I did not like my nails and even they know that it looks sloppy. Now I have to wait two weeks with ugly nails in my hands before visiting a salon that actually knows how to do nails.
On top of that, one of the other workers on the salon addressed me as “sir” repeatedly when I was trying to look for the sink to wash the acrylic powder off my hands. She kept saying, “Sir! Sir! Sir! The sinks right here!” Unbelievable. Misgendering a woman who was born a female, has long hair, and female body parts is absolutely uncalled for. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did it on purpose just because I was visibly disappointed in the service. I will never return to Nail Boss ever again and will advise others on my personal life to avoid this salon like the plague.
Update: I find it absolutely comical that this business waited two months to respond to my review and try to make things...
Read moreI held off writing this review, as I prefer not to write a bad one. However a few days later and my nail beds still hurt from the over filing by hand instead of using dremel machine. I had told the technician they were too long that I needed them shorter and I had to tell him that a few times. And had to tell him all of them, not just pinky nail. The design although cute, is not what I had asked for asked for. I had specifically asked can you do this design, if not I will pick something else. Also the natural powder, I had inquired about about color before use, showed a picture to ask if it would look like that and was told no, so I proceeded thinking it would be more pink as he stated. Very unhappy with color as well. As for my pedicure the Water was extremely hot, actually causing me to sweat before I even had my feet in the water. I had to have her pull it down a couple times. The pedicure was mediocre the polished job was horrible. I did French with design on big toe somebody else had to do the design on the big toe not the technician which was fine French nails I had to ask her to fix as the crescents were sloppy enough that I had to ask to be fixed. It was blamed on regular Polish not being gel and I have been getting pedicures for over 30 years now and only did gel the last few times so times so I know that is not true. I was told that my nail design on my bug toe would not be the same as since it wasn't gel, which is not true. I must say the toe design was basically the same as the picture I showed and I'm happy with it. The prices are quite high. Almost double what I paid for the same service in other places. I actually don't mind paying a little more for for a good job, but I definitely don't expect to be sitting in a salon for 2 hours when I have 2 different people working on me. I go every 3 weeks and I keep myself I go every 3 weeks, I don't have calluses or anything else that requires extra care. The charge would have been close to $200 yet they told me it was a discount I didn't hear anything about that prior I think they knew I was upset I paid about $150 still tipped I think $9 for nails/7 feet. That's a lot less than I normally would I would love to find Mimi again. If I had known the old salon was going out of business, I would have asked her where she was going. As one person she would do my nails and my pedicure with the design on alternate nails, in half the time as 2 technicians and way better. I personally don't think I would ever go back, but good luck to those who do. Good luck to the salon and...
Read moreThis place is located off of Friars close to Petco. Parking is easy and accessible, but could be a little challenging during busy lunch or dinner hours. Staff greeted us quickly and we were able to check in via tablet at the front very easily. There were plenty of technicians to assist us, and we were walkins. We were sat within 2 minutes for pedicures and a gel manicure. They were efficient and asked the correct questions. They used timers to make sure we got our entire time in for our massages. The atmosphere is sleek, but welcoming. You will be offered beverages once sat. There is a variety of options for both services and drinks. Technicians took their time to make pedicures and gel mani beautiful. Their massage chairs are amazing. I recommend anyone to go there, you can also make appts by calling. Price is what you would expect...
