Some people don't realize that the San Diego Zoo Global is a non-profit that supports the SD Zoo, SD Safari park, projects all over the world, not to mention supporting the survival of many species that man's need for more space is wiping out.
The folks at both parks are dedicated to supporting the survival of these species and educating people with having these amazing places for the animals and to help people understand. Some use the animals for their viewing pleasure, some for highly needed education, some for both. The hope is that it is both.
Also, many people don't realize that the Sd Zoo Global has not one, but two, "frozen zoos" in place should a species be wiped out, they have created hope that they are not gone forever.

Once inside I realized why it was so expensive to get in. Every plant, flower, and animal was indiginous of the area where it was found in the zoo.(plants from Madagascar we're found in the Madagascar exhibit, and the terrain of the zoo was modeled after the terrain of that island.) The zoo is ridiculously huge. U could definitely spend several days getting through it. My favorite part was watching the lemurs play, and getting to see the koalas and wallabies. They also had spectacular aviaries filled with colorful birds. Wear your walking shoes and and take water. Take your time watching the pandas and the monkeys.
