This review is for my SECOND visit to the ER. (I’m 14 weeks pregnant & I went into the ER for severe nausea, pounding headaches, abdominal pain & being unable to eat.)
Now note my FIRST experience at Mercy was one to remember. (Hense why I came back) I had an amazing nurse who did everything she could to make me feel at ease and comfortable. She was very lighthearted and even told me if I returned to ask for her. She described herself as the red-headed Bronx version of I Love Lucy. An experience I will never forget ♥️ My doctor as well was very warm and friendly, she made sure I was comfortable and felt better before discharging me. She took the time to check on me and even stated that Mercy Scripps had a wonderful prenatal and delivery service. She recommended that I should inquire about finding doctor @ScrippsMercy and come back and have my baby with Them...
So this Second Experience came as a COMPLETE disappointment and definitely shined the hospital in a HORRIFIC light...
My check in experience was VERY nice and courteous (as it was the first time I went), very quick process getting me in and situated in a room in the E section of the hospital. When I got to my room I was helped by a nurse who seemed uninterested in doing her job. Did not even try to make me comfortable. Sadly ANOTHER nurse inquired if I needed a blanket as she seen I was shaking from the cold, since I’m a very petite lady. ( Still not the reason for my one star review) I understand that jobs get overwhelming and everyone’s human and gets tired. But I felt this was a background issue...when you see someone bright and bubbly with other patients and co-workers and the second they speak to you it’s like death has covered the room corner to corner...(still not my issue for one star) I’m sadly used to this.
BUT what I did not appreciate in the slightest was DOCTOR JON KEITH LUDWING’s subliminal rudeness and treatment I was given...
First off he did not seem the LEAST bit interested what I had to say. He was very short and slightly condescending with the way he spoke to me. After I explained to him I was here previously for the same issue as before, he simply said he will administer anti-nausea medicine and exited the room. I was given an IV for dehydration, dextrose and Benadryl.
Secondly, the nurse (who was very uninterested In servicing me) came back and administered my medication thru my IV tube. When she gave me the dextrose I alerted her that it burned and I felt it up my entire arm and it hurt me. She said nothing and continued to push the medicine they the IV but very quickly as it hurt and burned even more. Afterwards she simply stated “I’ll be fine”. (It’s been a few days since then and my arm has not healed or been the same. It hurts when I bend it for two long and sharp pains.)
Sadly and Lastly, after about 2hours with no one checking in on me the doctor returned. I asked to have an ultrasound to check on my baby to see if everything was ok and he seemed annoyed that I even asked! After all my testing was done (about an hour later) I received the ultrasound which lasted less than 3 mins total. I explained to him I still had a splitting headache and wasn’t sure what to do about my sleep/eating issue. He then told me to go to a hospital that was more for “people like me” which he says he meant “for navy spouses @ balboa hospital” that left a sour taste in my mouth... and proceeded to discharge me.
I left still with a splitting headache, and upset by the way I...

Multiple weekly visits to this Scripps for well over 3 years. One parent infected with WNE, unable to walk, in different facilities for 2 years, at the same time I was caring for my mother battling Stage 4, with most of her needs here as well. Needless to say, I knew the facility and employees well, would highly recommend ALL, until this personal experience
In a matter of 1 minute of him bursting into my World, he managed to suck all hope out of me, and my conditions immediately worsened
Lack of mobility in legs and arms, inability to stand or walk, diminishing range of motion… Clearly I was beyond his capabilities, perhaps too challenging for him
The way he conducted himself clearly overcompensating for his inability to care for others, his personal stress/issues, and/or his lack of adequate education/training, were all quite visible, shocking and harmful to me, the patient seeking care
I hope the multiple red flags triggered some level of investigation, further validating the claims. I hope not simply ignored, not taken seriously & like mine, were not given the attention they deserved. Tenure, responsibility, consistent full time hours, combined with the fact that he was the department lead during his shifts, are all facts making not only the employee the responsible party, but the hospital as well
Regardless of how one attempts to spin the relationship, the fact that Ludwig is an implied employee of Scripps does not change. Business cards, personalized uniform, employee badging, title on name tag, employee security badge/clearance, hospital website notation including his bio, let us know that he acts on behalf of the hospital in all regards, both legally responsible his actions and behaviors. Regardless of how persons are classified, compensated, or other actions taken to lessen potential risk an employee may bring, they stand out, each easily argued and won. The admission to the underlying problem, deserves equal attention
Unknown at the time as to the specifics, my condition was not normal, but my obvious worsening condition was quite serious. I should have been treated with some concern, and taken seriously as deserved
I had someone call the ambulance to get me up off the my floor, and to take me in that morning. I was forces to endure 12+ hrs dealing with his issues, non stop tests, bedside spinal tap, x-rays & scans. Then frustrated at my condition, he made the poor decision to have nurses & security wheel me outside, and made a taxi return me. I was left in the middle of the night, in the rain, in front of the place I was living, to then wait until my neighbors were up, and for someone to help me inside.
Years later I still suffer from this event. The reason I am adding tonight, is for me to be able to move forward without this memory
Shame on you Ludwig, and...
Read moreThe emergency room desk cleaning person female in all maroon is one of the most rudest hostile persons I have ever encountered. I ask to use the hospital phone and she said no then proceeded to quiz me why I couldn’t use my own phone because I still had 2%. I told her because I was living at Corecivic and it’s their requirement that I call from the hospital phone. She kept on quizzing me on why I couldn’t use my phone after I told her and she got actual attitude then asked if I wanted to talk to somebody else in a snarky voice. So before I said anything to the other lady who previously didn’t have an attitude she blurted in that I was having an attitude because I needed to use the phone so then when I explained she then replied with a smirk that I couldn’t. She then left and I sat down and the cleaner in maroon starting singing the song “you don’t gotta be so rude” to which I got back up to take pictures of the area not her and she covered her face and ran and got the guard saying I was taking her picture trying to get me thrown out to which I told the guard that I write reviews for google and was going to write one and needed pictures and showed him right then and there that none of them had her or anything with information in them. It was in the public lobby waiting area. I’m allowed. So that guard called someone else who came who was security. By this time I’m already being triaged and paperwork was started and I said I wanted to make a formal complaint and was told I had to do it online. I was then told the same thing by the nurse. I’m a patient coming in for acute kidney damage but now my B/P is elevated 159/something I don’t remember. I was also told I couldn’t charge my phone in the lobby but that is wrong too. There are sockets everywhere so I’m charging my phone right now. This scrips and the Chula Vista scripps is not as nice or friendly as the original scripps I went to. This one is by far the rudest. Esp the person in maroon who obviously must be close to the other personnel here in the ER department. I do not recommend ever speaking with her because if things are not perfect in her mind she verbally attacks you and points her fingers at you and gets her cronies to join her cause like some kind of click. It has the potential to become aggressive quickly. I actually feel like she was trying to have me removed from the hospital. And she said I wasn’t allowed to take pictures in the lobby of the hospital. Which isn’t true to my knowledge. I do not recommend coming here only because of the staff that is at the er greeting area. I was seen quickly by a doctor who was actually friendly. I supplied a u.a. Sample and am now waiting for...
