If you’re considering where to go to get your hair done, you cannot go wrong with Color Collective. To paint you a picture, it’s centrally located and I can always find parking in the lot out front. It’s a whole experience. The salon decor is so beautiful and inviting and I love all the plants! The area where they wash/rinse your hair has major spa vibes. The music playlist is always solid and they are welcoming and inclusive of folks of all identities.
When it comes to hair, Aisha is a master and her expertise shows in her own work and the team that she has assembled. Each person has a specialty and it’s so great to have such a diverse and skillful staff. Both Aisha and the salon have an amazing social media presence and it’s so educational. My hair is wavy/curly and she helped me pin down my hair products and style routine! I first turned to Aisha after a breakup and ever since she worked her magic, I can feel a difference in my confidence. There have been countless times that loved ones and strangers remark on how beautiful my hair is and those comments go beyond the day it’s cut and colored and styled. When they say their work is transformational, it really is!
What she does best is really customize the cut and color to your lifestyle. I came in showing a picture of Chrissy Teigan and she didn’t just go to work. The consultation before always shows that she is trying to be mindful of my hair, from porosity and curl pattern to my color history and how I normally style it. She asked really thoughtful questions about how I care for my hair and how often I’d be willing to go to the salon, which showed me she takes great care in making sure I’m happy and satisfied with the end result, not only on that first day but until the next appointment. I’m sure that is true for the rest of the team, too!
Just go and find out for yourself! Aisha and The Color Collective are the best in the business and you’ll definitely find your hair salon home...
Read moreI came in last month to do a color correction and dye my hair back to Teal. I've been dying my own hair since I was a teenager and have never been to a salon for color. Now my hair had been damaged previously by myself. My review is not so much based around the quality of the service. However, I would like to note that I honestly could have done my own hair at home and wish that I had. I had Jamie and she did do a great job, even though there are patches of green showing where the dye didn't take as well. And some blonde batches on the front roots. I'm overall more disappointed in the miscommunication in pricing. I really tried my best to get a quote for the service but continued to be told it would be $110 per hour. She told me to prepare for 3-5 hours. Then after the strand test, told me that it could take another hour. I honestly believed that I would pay $500 max. I had told her that was my limit in the consultation. Also, the website that you set your appointment on said $110 for the color correction service. It said nothing about per hour. I had also made the mistake of telling her that this was my first time getting color done in a salon. I have short hair too, at its longest, it reaches my chin. Yes it is thick, but short non-the-less. I spent $900 dollars to get a color that I could have done at home for $60. This was my rent money and I have been behind on rent ever since. My appointment was at 2:30 and I was at the salon till 11pm. I highly recommend that if you go to Jamie, make sure that you openly discuss pricing with her. I'm extremely disappointed in my first...
Read moreI recently visited The Color Collective for the very first time after Aisha - who has been taking care of me and my hair for the past four years - left her old salon and opened this one. Parking here is a breeze, and right when you walk into the salon you see a little snack area with complimentary snacks and beverages which is really nice! The salon is also super clean & open.
I could go on and on about Aisha! She has incredible attention to detail, not only with regards to hair but also with remembering little details about my life that I told her during other appointments. It’s nice that she cares and listens :) she also makes sure to always determine exactly what I want with my hair before she gets started. I’m a water polo player so my hair is biiigtime damaged, yet she manages to make it look beautiful and healthy again with each appointment. Her balayage is incredible, and she’s really good with answering questions (e.g. “what does toner do”) in a way that someone who isn’t a hairstylist (aka me) can really easily understand. Aisha knows her stuff, and this salon is a great reflection of that; knowing Aisha, the Color Collective probably has some of the best hairdressers in San Diego. I always look forward to my hair appointments, and I can’t wait for my next one at the...
