Not sure what the people who are marking this gym as 3 stars and higher but this place is not quite worthy of 3 stars
Here are my reasons why I feel this place is deserving of a single star.
it's DIRTY!!! Locker rooms alone I went in regularly for a couple of weeks now and I noticed some areas where workout powders were spilled and noted the condition of cleanliness...it got worse and nothing was cleaned up... Most you will see is the towels would get collected and basic things like toilet paper replaced.... Shower room is starting to get the red mildew stuff we see on ships at sea.
material condition is embarrassing... Locker room tons of the lockers are damaged and some have doors missing, half the toilets and urinals are not working and had out of order signs for the past couple of weeks now. Now for the gym side for treadmills half of them are broken and some of the equipment around the rest of the gym is in shady condition too.
Overall I thought maybe i was being overly critical so I so spent a couple of weeks going to this gym in hopes maybe I caught it on a bad day which I can honestly say that it isn't the case. The staff are nice people but the cleanliness I'm sure is contract related which isnt on them for that same as why equipment is down for weeks when this is a land facility it isn't like a ship where it will take some time and some coordinating to replace a treadmill.
Another thing I wish they would note as well is what is being used more, they have a ton of cardio bikes but a fraction are PRT ones and the rest are not and were hardly touched the times I was in the gym so why not add some more of the things people waited on like treadmills and such.
All this said if something could be done about the cleanliness issue and the broken things are fixed in a timely manner I would say this is a...
Read moreEdit: 11/2022 Assisted by the shutdown of the pandemic, this gym finally had a major upgrade. The locker rooms and bathrooms have had a full reconstruction bringing them into the 21st century. They've had several machines replaced with working equipment and best of all the A/C actually works now. This gym is actually a very nice option once again, and for the first time exceeds the assumptions of it's name.
Original: Terrible base gym, definitely lives up to its name. The locker rooms are small, cramped, and most lockers are either broken or dirty. Urinals, stalls, and sinks are always "out of order". It seems like the only A/C that works is in the back body weight room, which feels like a freezer compared to the rest of the gym. 80% of the machines are old, decrepit, and falling apart. It's unfortunate that service members, who are required to stay in shape, are left with this garbage of a gym and for most people it's their only option, because they don't have vehicles or don't want to pay for a separate gym membership. The only two parts of the gym that I can recommend are the outdoor weights area and the exit.
The best base gym I've seen so far is the Fleet Rec in Yokosuka, Japan. This gym needs a lot of attention and even...

This place is AMAZING, it's exactly what you want in a gym - room to roll and stretch out, all the cardio you want, deadlift outdoors, kettlebell usage to your heart's content and id you're into machines, they have EVERYTHING: hip thrusts, pulley squat, more leg press/squat variationa than I have ever seen in my life! Outdoora is my favorite - plenty of racks with plates to square, dead pull up whatever, also sleds.
Really, if there's equipment you want, they have it - and being open 24/7 is really key - the military works 24/7 and we need to stay in shape, they are on a mission to make it happen.
Something to know if you cannot find parking go around the back side of the building by the the driving range and golf Center and there's...
