I can't even put it into words. With every fiber of my being, I loathe this place. The on base police are practically criminals. They'll write you up for speeding even if you weren't. I almost lost my license twice because of their gang. I was driving with four others in the car with me at the time (a blue convertible mustang) I barely even tapped the gas after stopping at a stop sign while heading back to my command and was not even going 10MPH yet, base law enforcement immediate flashed me and said I was speeding but wouldn't give me the speed they read or any other valid reason as to why I was pulled over. I ended up getting cuffed and brought to my ship because I was "resisting and wasn't complying" by asking them to give me a valid reason as to why I was pulled over. Luckily, one of my passengers was able to take possession of my car because they would've towed it, and who knows what would've happened. Another time, I was approved for leave, and these scumbags marked me AWOL at my command. They were about to take my car again, and I sat in their little precinct for hours before it was cleared up, almost lost my license and my car. I still ended up being cuffed and brought to my command. It's a bad look! Reputation ruining! The government and this place are cooked. They don't care unless it benefits them. Sad that they treat you like a criminal even before running any investigations, without having any information what so ever, or them just blatantly committing fraud. My command also had me sign documents while INTOXICATED! They told me I had to walk up to the ship to sign documents after i informed them i had been drinking and would take me some time to get there if it was truly important. My senior chief just let this happen as she was the witness their with me and the one i spoke to and communicated. I had liqour in my system and didn't want to sign anything until i was sober. The crooks threatened me with restriction, cpt. mass, and XOI if I didn't sign before I left, and wouldnt let me leave if I didnt sign it. LARGEST GANG in America, folks! Steer clear of this place as much as possible. It isn't worth the turmoil or headaches. Every review I put, they do the most to flag it for something and get it removed. There's nothing in this one that goes against COC. Proof enough. They won't even let you tell your story or take constructive criticism directly related to their actions. This place is garbage. I felt like a slave and a con man working for the...

Welcome to Naval Base San Diego, Big Navy’s favorite playground. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you’re sitting in gate traffic long enough to log sea service. If you don’t leave your house three hours early, just go ahead and text your LPO you’re “standing by outside the gate.”
Parking? Outstanding. Nothing builds unit cohesion like 400 sailors fighting for 40 spots. Hope you enjoy hiking in from Barrio Logan, because your Command Master Chief will still call you late.
The piers? Absolute paradise. Nothing like forklifts whipping around like Fast & Furious, seagulls strafing your cover, and haze gray ships belching out more exhaust than a Marlboro convention. Smells like freedom. Tastes like cancer.
The galley? Five stars. Who doesn’t love powdered eggs, rubber chicken, and coffee that could double as paint stripper? It’s like fine dining, if fine dining made you question your life choices.
The people? A beautiful mix of half-awake sailors with Rip-Its in hand, Marines wondering why they’re here, and contractors who somehow always walk faster than the entire chain of command.
Pros: downtown skyline views, taco trucks outside the gate, and the sweet relief of liberty call.
Cons: everything else.
Final verdict: 3 stars. This place isn’t the worst, but it’s definitely Navy enough to make you consider the Air Force recruiter’s number...
Read moreThis base needs to do something about there not being enough parking for the sailors who work here. I find it’s always an issue finding a parking spot when I get to work and it’s not like you can just park anywhere because your car will get towed. (I say this because my car has been towed before) I will say I know people who are E1-E4 who cannot find parking when all the ships are in and have to risk parking anywhere to come back and find that their cars are gone and a lot of times they do not make enough money to pay the hefty 300 dollars to get their car out of the towing yard. If this base knows they have an issue with there not being enough parking they should not be bringing towing companies on base to tow peoples cars. For an officer or a E5 and above they can afford it but for a E1-E4 that’s more than a quarter of one of their paychecks. They definitely need to fix this issue because in the last couple weeks alone there have been multiple sailors at my command complaining about not being able to find parking then their cars getting towed because of where they had to park. If this base wants to actually help sailors they need to stop calling these towing companies to base to tow their...
