The trip we took with Russell was one of the best experiences of this kind that I have had. I have done other whale watching experiences, that were good. This was far better. We got into a large pod of dolphins, as an example. There was a bigger tour boat nearby. They could only watch from a ways away from several feet above the water. We could reach out and touch a dolphin and then got in and swam with them. How cool is that. Because a small boat is so fast and maneuverable we could cover so much more of the ocean than a big boat. Russell did everything possible to make sure our adventure was amazing. He was what we were hoping for. The boat was very stable. No seasickness issues. There was no set tour. It was what interested us and where sea life showed that drove our course. Perfect. I spent days reading reviews and websites before ending up with this boat. It was money well spent. THE BEST day on the waters off of San Diego we have ever had. Our positive experience started with Russell and his great communication. He kept us updated about weather conditions and swells a week out and up to the day of our adventure. This specialized boat was SO MUCH FUN!! Getting out was one of the best parts of this trip.

The day got better when we came across a pod of Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins. Russell knew exactly how to get their attention and they would come play with our boat, the videos and photos we got are amazing. We could hang off of the bow of the boat and literally watch them play in the wake. There were SO MANY babies there. Russell is very knowledgeable about Marine life and he pointed out the newborns and what to look for. We could not have had a better time if we planned it.

Found Xplore Offshore on the Internet while planning a La Jolla visit for anniversary - surprise trip for my wife hoping to see animals. Russell was very helpful as we came up to the scheduled day in mid September, candidly advising regarding changing / questionable conditions and the level of wildlife activity he was seeing recently. We rescheduled by a day at his advice for better conditions. Thanks to Russell's knowledge, we totally lucked out!
