Richmond Market — Local services in San Francisco

I've always had an excellent experience with this market until today. I went in to purchase and all I brought $10 in dollar coins and $5 in cash because my bank was closed and I didn't want to pay the ATM fee. I wanted to purchase lottery tickets since the jackpot was at $300 million and you can't use a credit card to purchase the tickets. After 4 years of coming to this market to support local businesses that are being pushed out of our neighborhoods despite their higher prices and the longer walk to get there, I was shocked by the treatment I received from the older Asian gentleman working the counter. Not only did he refused to accept my dollar coins, which is legal tender, he grabbed my cash to pay for the other items I intended to use my card for. When I asked for my cash back so I could pay for the items with my card and purchase the tickets with the dollar bills, he told me it was already done he wouldn't refund my purchase. Keep in mind I never gave him my cash, it was on the counter and he took it without asking what I was going to use it for. He then proceeded to tell me that if I was so upset with the situation I should just go to Safeway! After arguing with him for some time trying to get my money back, he finally agreed to accept $4 in dollar coins to get me to leave. After supporting this store for so long and refusing the convenience of on demand delivery services and lower cost options closer to my home, his disrespect made me question why I would support this store, or any store for that matter, who treats their regular customers with such disrespect.
