Shi's Hair Studio — Local services in San Francisco

I can't recommend this hair studio enough. I've been getting my hair cut by Shi and her colleague Chilan since I moved to San Francisco after college in 2012, and have continued to come back despite moving out of the Richmond district to Chicago and various locations around the Bay Area.

Over the years coming here, I've come to consider myself not just a customer of Shi and Chilan, but a good friend as well! They are both consummate professionals and extremely reliable, not to mention warm and friendly on a personal level.

We all know how difficult it can be to find a new barber, and I have remained loyal to this place because they know my hair, I always have a pleasant experience and a great hair cut on top of it. I like to tip well because of our relationship but their haircuts are reasonably priced and Shi even started selling succulents during the pandemic too!

The best place in the Richmond district for a kid's haircut, hands down. Good prices, super fast, and they have a TV with a bunch of DVDs, making it a great place for a kids first haircut. Super nice staff, they even tend to squeeze me into me son's slot right after him when I need a haircut even if I didn't have an appointment for myself. The place is definitely a local gem. Not really a secret spot, but definitely a preferred vendor, so to speak. After 5 years of being a customer at Shi's hair studio, I was extremely disappointed with the service I recieved last time. I explicitly scheduled an appointment with Shi, but instead was given another hair dresser. I showed the hair dresser a handful of images of the exact style I wanted and we verbally agreed on cutting 1-1.5 inches of hair. She ended up chopping off 3+ inches of my hair and giving me a style completely different from what I had shown. My hair is now so short I cannot even put it up.
