This restaurant features one of the heaviest doors in a restaurant I have ever experienced: a mother was having a hard time keeping the door ajar while getting the stroller across.
The place is reasonably quiet and clean, and, in case you like to enjoy the fresh air, they do offer some outdoor seating both shaded and without. Most people, however, choose to dine inside, although seating is admittedly a bit cramped inside.
Service can be more prompt, but food is served rather quickly. Food is bit burnt but taste is rather interesting, although I wouldn't say it's great. I ordered eggs with mushroom, spinach, and fetta cheese, with salad on the side.
While I liked the salad which comes with the order, the portion they served you is on the small side (the entire meal), so plan to order two if you are looking for a lunch-sized meal, which is probably why the majority of the customer base appears to be exclusively female.
Service can be slow so you want to order in a hurry, make sure you make eye contact with the servers: they tend to be more focused on putting clean cups and glasses back in the cupboard than attending to the needs of the customers they serve.
In fact, it was a good 5-10 minutes before the couple before me was offered a table although the place is far from full.
I think the bigger problem is however being attentive to the needs of customers: when the aforementioned lady with the stroller appeared to be having difficulty getting through the door on her way out, the waiter simply thanked her for coming instead of offering a helping hand.
With that said, service can sometimes be good: I was served water without having to ask for it so service isn't all that awful (yes, they are places where you have to explicitly request water in order to be served).
What I meant is, I was given an empty glass for about 10 minutes, and then a waitress (finally) noticed that I didn't have any water and poured me some and left the pitcher, so while service isn't great, it isn't awful: it just takes some time for them to realize that you need their service, hence the frequent eye contact suggestion aforementioned.
I would recommend people who enjoy a light meal to visit, and be warned: they can test your patience if you...
Read moreWe came here on 12/17 at around 1:00PM. They were incredibly busy, and were handling customers quickly, and respectfully. It was a little too loud inside for us, so we opted to sit outside under their heaters. From what we saw inside and in our trips to bathroom, it was a decent atmosphere with lots of plants— but the music was just too loud and (IMO) off base for their brand. Anyways, the heaters kept us very warm and we like to people watch. The man who greeted us, I didn’t catch his name, was the best. He was so sweet and even moved us later on to get the both of us under the heater rather than one of us. He was friendly, and had a lovely attitude. The food was incredible. The dressing on the salad is light and tangy, perfect for brunch. Eggs were soft and cooked in olive oil. The pancakes are fluffy and quite filling. It’s served with real maple syrup which we really enjoyed. We also tried the crispy potatoes which went perfectly with their house made hot sauce. Please don’t leave without trying it! My girlfriend loved her breakfast sandwich also. We were very happy. Our server, Aili (It’s what was on the receipt) was quick and efficient. She was quite busy, and her demeanor made that clear. Every time she visited our table she looked like she desperately needed to get to the next thing, which is fine, but not exactly great customer service. I’m sure she meant no harm, and again she did everything well and we received everything but she was just not very friendly. The man working the floor alongside her was chatting with locals, checking in on everyone, and looked genuinely happy to be there. As servers, we know what to do and what to look for in a good place and Eats is...
Read moreDelicious food. While a little more than I would care to pay for, the food is really good, and, based on timing, this place can fill up. Be mindful if you don’t live in the immediate area, parking will be limited and will be paid. If you live in SF, this won’t surprise you though. Service is decent, although they do get very busy. As to the setting, it’s very casual (no frills). I had the citrus salad, which I really enjoyed and was the perfect amount. My wife had the egg sandwich (and salad on the side) while my daughter had the Vadouvan curry chickpeas, which she loved and could barely finish.
While it’s a challenge to find parking, look for it. You may luck out for street parking, and worth trying to. My family and I walked to what has to be a local favorite and found it a fantastic choice. Not only was the service great, but the food was absolutely delicious. The setting is very casual and comfortable, and somewhere to enjoy with family and friends. We all tried something different, and nobody was disappointed. All happy. I had the grilled lemongrass chicken sandwich and the salad. There was a ton of flavor in the sandwich, and even the (simple) salad had great flavor. My wife had the tostaquille, which was great (yes, I snuck a bite). Oldest had the fried egg sandwich, with fried potatoes (amazing). Second had the fried chicken sandwich. Youngest had the grilled cheese sandwich. Again, everyone loved their food and the place...
