This place was an absolute disappointment on every front, deserving a rating far below zero stars. My family and I were homeless back in 2022 we were looking for shelters only to encounter an establishment that proved unfit for anyone's stay. The staff's incompetence and inexplicable bias manifested in baffling rules—prohibiting us from bringing basic essentials to our room while allowing others free rein. They imposed a strict curfew and rigid regulations, demonstrating a lack of empathy towards those with work commitments or basic needs like grocery shopping.
Beyond these absurd rules, the establishment's hygiene standards were shockingly low. Food left out for hours, sourced from questionable places, made us ill multiple times. Their promise of care for sick individuals was nothing more than lip service, evidenced by their failure to accommodate a sick individual who was promised a hotel only to relocate another family to a hotel that was not sick.
Moreover, the facility's maintenance was abysmal, with toilets closed arbitrarily and a severe cockroach infestation all over the place. The behavior of several staff members (Mariah, Mrs. D, Debra, etc.) was nothing short of harassing, with incidents of them grabbing at me and my phone while recording their behavior and threatening to beat one of my family members up.
The most egregious offense was the mismanagement of donations, hoarded away by the staff instead of reaching those in need. I witnessed firsthand multiple times the staff taking these donations to their car to take home while families struggled without necessary supplies. In the mini outside area, they had multiple dirty, broken toys the kids had to play with while new ones were hoarded in the basement and attic. This flagrant misappropriation is unacceptable and highlights the callousness of the staff.
Overall, my experience at this shelter was a harrowing testament to their negligence, callousness, and disregard for the well-being of those seeking refuge. Avoid this establishment at all costs; there are far better options...

Just to be clear: they did not support a teacher trying to be certified for next school year, because I would not work part-time (which it never is). I said I needed that time to get certified, literally to collect the things I need to be certified I need time now, which isn’t a lot considering the process from preparation, to applying, to Certified. In the meantime, wouldn’t even temporarily housing be an advantage and increase my chances of getting a job offer before I’m certified.
They don’t want to help you with your life, because they got one for you.
Initial Post: Absolutely horrible. They wanted me to give up my education, stop my MBA program and start working at a Safeway, I’m sure they had a job already lined up.
They don’t want to help anyone. They just tell you that you’re not good enough for the things you want. Julia threatened me the first day that they would badmouth me to all the other shelters. How’s that for support? 90 days is August. These people are just ghouls.
The county is being ripped off if they give this...
Read moreAwesome outreach by most of staff; the rest seem like they may be manufacturing some sort of benevolence. For instance treating a shelter guest with less respect as a shelter worker, or even staff children. Over all this Villa has been an AMAZING life change for my daughter and I. I really feel that my daughter's caseworker amd also mine- are CALLED to be in the position they are currently in. Others will pass through. I really appreciate the empathy demonstra9by the sincere life-changers, at...
