If I could create a heaven on earth, Michaels would factor in somewhere.
This was the first time I'd been inside this location & haven't been in a Michaels since probably April or so. But I am BIG time into crafts, & this store didn't disappoint. I went to find some faux plants for a room's decor. The floral section is right up front, so I went straight to it & was guided to a specific spot thanks to the alluring fragrance of eucalyptus. I hadn't considered using the plant originally, but I found the perfect prepackaged grouping right away.
Now, I probably should've left because I can always find something at a craft store, but I decided just to "browse" & "browsed" myself right over to the Christmas Santas. Half price, I couldn't resist! Then I continued "browsing." I have two clients who want me to do an art wall for them, so I decided to get inspired in the frames. I found PLENTY of ideas (for my clients & myself) & even spoke to a salesgirl about a custom-frame job.
Then I kept "browsing" and went down the back center aisle, turning my head left & right. Plants, baskets, food crafts, yarn, & then I veered off to the needlepoint (I enjoy cross-stitch). (I should note, here, that this store was AMAZINGLY clean. I used to work at Jo-Anne's & know how hard it is to keep a store clean. But I saw no products on the floor, blocking aisles, or items jumbled about on shelves. It was all neat & tidy!) Then on to the drawing section where I bought a triangular ruler for a GREAT price. Then came the wood where I found my initial, which, of course, I had to get (I have leftover home-office paint I can use to spruce it up!), and then I accidentally found myself in the beading section. It seemed as if the beads went on for miles! That was my cue to exit, post-haste! Everywhere my eye landed, I saw a strand of beads that were "darling" or "gorgeous" or "perfect." When my fingers got to twitching and sweat beads broke out on my forehead in a fevered desire to go crazy in the section, I took off to pay for my haul & leave.
The line went quickly, and the salesgirl who rang me up (my apologies because I didn't catch her name...probably because I was suffering from bead withdrawals) was friendly, answered my question about classes, & signed me up for their mailing list. And then I left. There's still a portion I didn't "browse," but I know my limits, & the beads did me in for my first visit.
But there's...
Read moreIt all began with a Birthday emergency! My cousin was rushing to plan for her daughter's 7th birthday..when she broke her foot...It was already late when I had to run to Michael's to grab at least 10 to 13 items for her party. I was stressed out and ran in with about 10 minutes left. One of the employees there began to help me gather everything on my list. I'm pretty positive I remember his name but I don't want to embarrass myself lol. Anyway- He legitimately walked around with me to get every single item on my list! He was SOOOOO kind, patient, helpful and pleasant! This location was out of a lot of items but that didn't matter. He suggested other items as well to help me figure it out!!I definitely wouldnt base my review on the stores lack of product. I'm going to assume they do their best! Anyway- I knew I could possibly grab a few more things but since there was only about 2 minutes left I didn't want to be rude and push it ( I never go into stores last minute like this). That said- He kindly just said "Don't worry you still have a few minutes " MAJORITY IF NOT 98% of employees would NEVER have said that. Most stores begin shouting when there's an hour or two left..or follow you down every isle...Anyway...It was the fact that he was so genuinely kind and wanted to help. It truly truly is a miracle when you come into contact with anyone who just reminds you there are good people. Whether its your behavior or the employee- Both can completely make or break an experience. Anyway- Shout out to the young man who helped me on the 10th of September and the woman at the register! I walked in there sweating bullets and I came out completely relieved..Both were awesome! Don't ever walk in a store with a bad attitude! I know im definitely guilty of that. You bet I went back in to apologize. Yours will be a reflection of the service you receive!! Also- Take time before writing a review. Most people can't even get to their vehicle before writing a scathing review based on an issue that could have been nothing had they acknowledged their own attitude or behavior. We all have bad days. Make sure your review is based on merit...honesty...
Read moreI was there with my 3 kids ; they all had asked to go to the bathroom, as it was my first time , i didn't know where the bathroom was. I told the oldest to go ask a cashier. One showed them the way and sent them on their way. After some time they came and got me because they couldn't open the doors. A code is needed. They came to get me. My two little ones are 3 yrs old and are being potty trained; my 10 yr old would have been fine holding it. I found it extremely unprofessional to have a lady tell the boys where they bathroom was but didn't inform they needed an employee to open. They patiently waited. When I went to the front to ask for the code, an older woman responded with an attitude "we don't give the code to just anyone!" Excuse me? I'm not just anyone, I'm a customer. And if they know the policy, my boys should have had someone open the door for them right away. If my boys would have had an accident, I would have just left everything behind and taken them home to shower. Not a very pleasant experience. I much rather go to a different branch or chain...
