I recommend any watch aficionado to delay their servicing and/or purchasing of Rolex until you are outside of Puerto Rico. DO NOT GO TO KURY. I do not understand how they are certified by Rolex (and the only one in Puerto Rico at that).
I brought my Rolex GMT-Master 1675 "Pepsi" from 1970 into the shop for an appraisal for insurance and servicing. I received the watch as a gift and it had been sitting in a safe deposit box since by grandfather passed away in 1977 until 2020.
At first, I arrived at the wrong Kury (on the second floor). Unbeknownst to me, the young watch repairer was eager to take a look at my watch tap the crystal, spin the crown around and tell me it was fake (all in under 1 minute). I insisted he get his manager as I had the original paper on hand. As he began to walk away I called him back, took my watch and excused myself from the store as it was clear they knew nothing about watches. They ran after me and told me to go downstairs where the Rolex section is.
When I arrived at the correct Kury, the gentleman helping me in the Rolex section told me it was at best restored with non-original parts based off the coloring of the bezel. I then requested to speak to the owner, who came over and with one look confirmed the watch and bezel were indeed genuine and original, but the bracelet was not. He told me they do not appraise for insurance purposes but said the watch could be worth $10,000-$15,000. I also pointed out that his employee upstairs told me it was fake, to which he replied "he doesn't know any better." I then reminded him that is was his employee and should know better (or at least keep his mouth shut if he doesn't).
The following month I was in Zurich and took my watch to Bucherer, where they told me it was indeed genuine and impressive at that. Its condition was near perfect and free of any wear & tear and the coloring of the bezel was rare as it had not been exposed to the elements for decades. The bracelet that Kury insisted was not genuine was indeed a limited run for this watch during the beginning of that decade. They appraised the watch at $45,000.
My suggestion is to wait until you get to the mainland or abroad to do anything related to luxury jewelry, especially Rolex. The shop is not even pleasant to browse. It is scarcely stocked with merchandise and there are more employees than clients. I do not recommend this...

Alex provided me with above and beyond service to a point that I not only found my piece but got a new friend. Alex is an extremely knowledgeable expert in the craft. He is a gemologist with a science background and from what I learned has a fantastic loving family. I am humbled by the experience of knowing Alex and appreciate the time he took to provide me with excellent service. Please...
