El Mercado Market — Local services in San Marcos

So first of all, I almost never go into this market because of the blatant prejudice towards anyone not Hispanic by customers and staff alike at all three businesses located in the strip mall (the Mercado Market, the Bakery, and the Restaurant). When I did go into the market, it was only for convenience and to avoid having to make ridiculous U-turns to get to the Circle K down the street. I stopped in, bought 1 beer, and left. I got home and realized my phone (iPhone 3Gs) was missing. Tried calling the phone number of the store which NO ONE ANSWERS and goes to fax... went back, store now closed. Asked if anyone turned in the phone... of course not. Went back in the morning at opening to get almost no useful info, due to the fact that NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH. They have cameras mounted all over the place, but no one to help me by maybe looking at the recorded surveillance to find out what happened. It was either dropped directly in front of the door or left on the counter during payment- there is no other place it could have gone.

My gut is that someone that works there (or a reg. customer) came up on my phone and, instead of doing the right thing, they just took it- hence why they are unhelpful (maybe playing dumb?) about seeing the video. Super lame, untrustworthy, and racist... great place if you're a...

Needs to have customers park in the back..not block the driveway , it’s not okay that they know their customers don’t care about the parking and park where ever and it’s very dangerous. I have felt like I’m going to be hit by a car multiple times. I won’t ever go here because I’m so upset about how they treat the parking lot. It’s rude and inconsiderate of every other business in the same parking lot, have people park in back, if they park on the side they should get a ticket for being a nuisance. This store is a rip off. I was going to purchase a drink that advertised as 99cents & when I went to pay she was charging me $1.99 & I told her it says 99cents & she no we charge $1.99 then I went to purchase beer which was pretty pricey then she add more on the cash register then gave me my total which was $18 & some change plus she added the sales tax.
