I want to share my story and tell you how Ash and the magic makers at Rustic Home made my dream come to life!

My home was on the market and in tip top shape to sell. It is an older home that had been renovated over the years to update and expand. Two hours after going on the market we received a full price, cash offer but when the buyers saw the kitchen they felt it was too small for their gourmet cooking lifestyle. So sad! We realized that we needed to do something to stage the kitchen and utilize the space in the adjacent nook area to expand the perceived kitchen area. I knew that today's modern gourmet kitchen includes an "island" and a place for friends & family to congregate over a glass of wine and delicious food.

I imagined how I might be able to add an island that would incorporate these elements to my kitchen by combining the food prep island with a bistro height table. I searched the internet and found some lovely designs but they looked portable & very limited. I drove around to the commercial furniture store to no avail.

Refusing to give up on the fantasy piece of furniture that would transform my kitchen, I found myself at RUSTIC HOME in San Marcos.

As I stood by a lovely table made from some magical wood, Ash approached me with such a light that I felt compelled to tell him my story. As I spoke, I could see in his eyes that the creative process had already begun. Within a day, Ash had sketched a rough draft of my fantasy island complete with diamond slots for wine bottles; built-in wooden wine glass holders; two wooden shelves for storage of cutting boards & knives and two large cabinets with plenty more storage. The pub table side features room for at least 4 chairs. You really have to see it to believe it!

The design process was fun & exciting!

Ash listened to my idea, transformed it & enhanced it into a workable design and then with grace & determination, made it happen in time to get my home back on the market! I can’t even imagine my kitchen without this stunning Chop & Chat Gourmet Island. My only challenge now will be to decide who will gain custody of it when I sell the property!

My husband says it is the nicest piece of furniture that we have ever owned!

Update! We sold our home & they absolutely love the custom island that Ash & I designed together. It will stay in the home a be a legacy to Ash's thoughtful design! I can't thank you enough....Sincerely, Liz...

I'll start by saying the I rarely ever write reviews. That's b/c rarely ever do I find a product/service/experience compelling enough to spend the time to do so. That said, I'm compelled to give Rustic Home and it's proprietor Ash a top score - 5 STARS WOOHOO!! - and to take a few moments detailing our experience.

First off, let me just say that his showroom is absolutely gorgeous. Not too often that you find furniture stores filled with so many beautiful & unique pieces as Rustic Homes. In fact, I shouldn't & wouldn't even call it a furniture store b/c that sells it short... It's more akin to a gallery of one-of-a-kind collected pieces (presumably from different parts of the world!) that just feel like they have a story to tell from a previous life. In fact I regret that we only just recently stumbled upon this place as we most certainly would've acquired more from here when we were in full on decorating mode!!

So we headed in for the first time a few months back with one specific piece in mind. We needed a 5+ foot long buffet type table, not too tall and not too deep, to fit behind the longest portion of our sectional couch. And we didn't want another "more of the same" type piece from Big Box places like Pottery Barn or Ethan Allen... We wanted character! So we're looking around the store and a beautiful side table catches my wife's eye... The distressed look/coloring of the doors, the chunky heaviness, the "old" feel to the wood accented by heavy duty rusted hardware... It was just what we were looking for! The only problem... We required super specific dimensions, (the coloring beautiful as it was, was also just a touch off from what would fit best in our home. My wife then gets talking to Ash saying that gosh we'd really like something likke that night stand but in more of a buffet type piece and without hesitation Ash said "no problem, I'll make one for you."

And that was it!! Ash created a custom piece for us (see pic!), right down the the exact specifications and finish work that we wanted to have a show stopper! As I mentioned at the beginning, it is rare to find a combination of both superior product and top notch customer service, and so I had to take a few minutes to give kudos to Ash &...

We were looking for a Victorian Era sofa and visited every store in San Diego. We were not getting what we had in our mind, finally we were about to place an order with Ethan Allen in San Marcos; they said that they would charge us big money and I would have to wait for at least 3-4 months to get the sofa. We decided to walk into the store next door called Rustic Home and that's it, it was our final destination. Rustic Home is the nicest place in San Marcos as far as classic custom furniture are concerned. This is not merely a store, I would call it a museum rather where you feel tranquilized the moment you enter. You can have a glimpse of world class hand made stuff chiseled with extreme perfection and to your level of satisfaction. The ambiance is soothing, worth experiencing and the best & sincere customer service that you could get by Ash. I was enthralled by the assurance and commitment that I received from Mr. Ash, the man who commits and delivers to the best of your expectation and beyond. I placed and ordered for an artistic sofa which we saw online. I brought the picture and showed it to Ash, he looked at it keenly and said that he will be able to make and deliver them to us here in San Marcos. he was very true and we have our dream sofa inside my house because of Ash and Rustic home. I would highly recommend this store to all you guys who are looking to add beauty into your house and satisfy the quench to have dream furniture in your house. At least to visit and feel tranquilized and fall in love with the world class art on woods. You will get the real...
