The Computer Factory — Local services in San Marcos

It is really unfortunate to have to write this review, but we feel disappointed after many years of loyal patronage.

About 6 months ago, we made major and expensive upgrades to a desktop PC through The Computer Factory, including the installation of a new operating system, installed improved RAM, and a replacement and upgrade to the existing SSD. In only a few months, our newly installed SSD failed, and The Computer Factory was unwilling to help. They did not offer a refund (about $300), they were not willing to send in our SSD to check on manufacturing defect or exercise the product warranty. They weren't offering solutions or helping us understand our options, and at this point, we are just out hundreds of dollars. The worst part is that the staff really didn't seem to care at all. It is clear to us that this must be a manufacturing issue, and we don't understand why they are not willing to help us replace the SSD or maintain us as customers. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars as patrons of this business, and it's a true shame to have write this. If The Computer Factory would like to make this right, I would be happy to have a conversation. Until then, I do not recommend spending your time...

Great local computer repair shop and place to purchase new and refurbished items. I was having problems with a refurb I'd bought on Amazon and the warranty company weren't able to diagnose the problem either. Derrick spent a lot of time running diagnostic tests, reinstalling Windows, and trying to save files from my uncooperative broken SSD. I ws given a great price on a comparable SSD and charged very little for what must have been a lot of labor. Derrick called me daily to update me on the progress and even though saving my files took a long time and wasn't anticipated, I was still charged the original quote. None, Paul and Derrick are friendly, informative and great to deal with. I highly recommend...

This place is great and the people are realy friendly. It feels like you just walked in to an old friends workshop. Lots of work benches and piles of parts. I took my sixteen year old in tho the store to get his gaming computer fixed. He had asked all his computer buddies what part he needed. Found it online but figured he would have to compromise going in to an old computer store. Nope they had the exact part on the shelf for almost the exact price as on line. The computer got fixed and while we were there a half dozen people came in to pick up a computer they had dropped off or buy a refurbished computer. They charged us far less than what I thought it would cost. I highly recommend...
