This supermarket contains: A bakery (bolillos, cakes, tortillas, latin-based pastries and desserts, etc) A meat market (deli) A cheese/sour cream/salsa counter (sour cream counter!? Yes. Try the fresh crema amarilla - thank me later.) A taqueria w/small indoor seating area Small stands with specialized foods you can buy or have them make right in front of you including: Mangonadas, pupusas, and many other items depending on the time/day.
That might sound overwhelming, but frankly, this place does everything well. They stock most of your standard options (not as many as Safeway or Target - they're smaller in total size than those), with an emphasis on many south-of-the-border themed or based products - as you could probably guess by it's name.
The store is brightly lit, very clean, organized, the staff is helpful and friendly. As an example: One time I was looking around for an item, clearly searching, and instead of me asking for help - I was approached and asked by an employee if I need help, if they could get anything, answer a question, etc. I was pleasantly surprised when one guy told me "no, put that back, I can get you a fresher pack from the oven - it's almost ready!". That kind of 'above and beyond' service has happened to me multiple times with different employees.
Lastly, they have private security in the store and while I've never seen them in action - the main Police Department is directly across the street - they're also friendly and courteous.
EDIT: I note that some other reviewers mention that they have dealt with employees who speak limited English and give negative reviews based on that. While it's true that some employees speak very limited English, pretty much every other employee speaks fluently or fluently enough to help with your shopping needs. Take a breath, ask politely and clearly, and work with them. The two times I needed extra help (complicated order), it took all of 1 minute for them to find another employee to help convey...
Read moreThis is my go to market and lately I've had a few bad experiences. I really can't complain about the quality of the products, but there is something that deserves one star! meat department. Last week I was there to purchase some pork meat and I requested a special cut and the meat clerk said he doesn't cut meat and I would have to wait for the actual butcher? And that was fine, the elderly man came and he helped he said they will charge an additional .50 cents per pound per pound and I agreed. Even though at other multiple butchers they do it for free it wasn't a big deal. Today I was there once again and I asked for a special cut on a meat and once again there is only a guy that "knows" how to cut meat and I was expecting them to tell me about the price increment and I am ok with paying a little extra but I am more than upset with the price they were trying to charge . The original price for one pound of pork leg was $1.69 and they wanted to change the price to $4.49 per pound? Like are you serious? And they give me the bullshit that oh the meat is on sale and that's why we have to change more . ? ? huh? And I was like what? That is beyond stupid . I was just here last week and I bought a meat that was on sale and I just got charged 50 cents more . The butchers response was well you want it or not. And I said no I'm not paying that price just for a cut. I usually get my meat cut for free at other places regardless if it's on sale or not! And the rude employee said well than go there. Seriously is this how management trains there employees. that just makes me not want to go there anymore. There is was to answer. if the owner sees this review please make it official on how much you should charge per cut when on a certain meat goes on sale. Customers shouldn't have to deal with this. Make a sign or something and please train your employees not to be rude and give ugly face Expressions. THANK YOU A VERY...
