First and foremost this is a working class paisa establishment. This is the type of place you come for the food, for the handmade tortillas and birria after a long night out or if you want to bring your jefes on Sunday morning to remind them of the rancho. The birria tacos are amazing, I suggest the borrego and accompany it with a 500ml Coca or Michelada and make sure you tip well. Also be aware if you park in the back of the restaurant you're going to have a hard time getting out try to park close by on the street.

A local shop owner mentioned La Chona for a bite to eat while we were in the area. The food was great, traditional Mexican dishes. We came in for lunch on a Saturday. There was a fair amount of seating available to pick from. We had the super burrito, a steak quesadilla, and quesabirra. They had a lamb or beef option for the birra, and my husband got one of each. He mentioned it was a lot of meat in each, and that they could have used a bit more cheese. Limited parking.

I had the birria de chivo was good but didn't have the chivo taste. But was good. I took the rest of the caldo to go. The server super friendly and asked if I wanted more tortillas, other places I've went never asked me. The fact que son tortillas a mano. Delicioso the best. Yes it's a small place and don't always trust the star rating on a place. Try it out you may love or hate it. No es para todos.

I found the food to be with no taste, for that reason I would give it at least a two stars. With that said, would I go back and eat there. No, I would not. For two reasons, the food and the fact that I hate people that lie.

When I placed the order which was enchiladas, I asked the server lady "Vero" I think is what they kept calling her. I made sure to ask for no rice since my GF is allergic to rice. I made sure to tell her twice because most people are not allergic to rice that go eat at Mexican restaurants. She wrote it down and said okay I got it.

Fast forward: food arrives and the plate sure has rice (of course) so I told her to please remove the rice and reminder her that I asked for no rice. She then said you didn't tell me no rice. I assured her I did, she again said no you didn't. Anyways, we ate the rubbery Mexican food and time came to pay.

Well sure enough... On the food ticket, this person specifically wrote (no arroz) which translates to "no rice". So in my book this person is a liar, and I can't stand liars going back to my original reason of this post and 1 star rating. If they lie about this, what else could they be lying about? washing their hands!?

Would not recommend anyone that wants good food and good service to go here. But then again, most people go here for beer and semi decent...

I love the food here... But, as a person who speaks mostly English, the server seems to have a hard time knowing what I want. I have to consistently tell her in English and even Spanish and she still doesnt understand. The several times I came here, she has always messed up my order. It's always the same server who works in the afternoons. I want this to be my usual place, but it's so hard when they just keep messing it up. Why would I pay for food that I dont want? Stop giving it to me! I never say anything because I feel bad but seriously...? If you dont know what I'm saying in both languages, dont guess! ASK! Ask me! Keep asking me I just want the correct order! ALSO, the service itself is bad. Never comes to my table and asks if everything is fine or updates about the rest of my food until 20 minutes have passed and it's still not on my table. Yeah, I could flag her down, but she never looks! The dining area is small yet you have to practically wave your arms around or stand at the counter for a good minute to get literally anything. Decent food. Bad...

It's a small latino restaurant place with around 10 car parking at rear and entry door. Corn Tortillas are tradicional hand made on weekends but they serve around 2 or three, you can ask for a refill of them, prices are acceptable.I did not get any refill in coffee although is also free refillable, is not the best one but it's ok.There is an internet music machine.."Rocola" works with money..I think because was always silent.😊.Tradicional latino seafood and clasic mexican are served: Camarones al mojo de ajo, cocktail de camaron, pollo empanizado..Beef Steak..Cheese chile relleno etc etc with refried beans and rice as sides.I went to taste the Birria de Borrego..also Birria de res is available. The dish large size is ok for 1 person..not too big.Combine with lemon, cilantro and having homemade tortillas was ok.Customer service is so so.Servers need better skills and no sliding working tennis or shoes for their own security.Environment is more like family, compadres, friends kind.Do not expect this to be a...
