Feels like Big Brother is watching you at every turn in the grocery store.
There are surveillance cameras everywhere, which is fine, security is great. What isn't fine is seeing monitors every aisle with everyone shopping on those monitors, cameras EVERYWHERE, they had cameras at head level staring directly at you while shopping. Felt unnervingly uncomfortable.
It was very clean, very bright, modern, couldn't find what I was looking for very easily. I couldn't find cinnamon rolls, looked everywhere, like huh what the heck your bakery has zero cinnamon rolls?! Where are the cinnamon rolls!
I will say Winco has hidden deals on items all over the store, picked up usually $4 sandwich meat bags for $0.50 cents each half pound deli meat. That's a nice little deal.
I just feel extremely uncomfortable here being watched and showed how they are watching me on big monitors every aisle with creative in-your-face cameras. That's a big no thank you. I'm not doing anything wrong, I don't like feeling like I am when shopping for groceries.
A couple employees were talking politics in the back when I visited this morning at 3am, that was uncomfortable to overhear. I don't need that in my grocery experience while shopping at Big Brother Foods, a George Orwell experience.
It's nice and modern, but with an unnerving amount of surveillance in your face. Surprised this doesn't bother anyone else?

Read moreCompared to their neighbor store, Winco grocery prices are mostly less, and non-grocery items higher. It's a financial relief for me. I love their Italian subs - adding lettuce and tomato, I get 4 meals for $4.
Any negative I have is due to employee groups standing around talking - some about other people, be it other employees or whoever. This has happened all 3 trips to the store, including the initial opening days. My last visit, two days ago, two employees were talking about someone walking up and down in front of cashier area, instead of doing stocking. Talking about another employee?? I looked down there and noticed a woman that appeared to have something over her arm. They were anticipating her movement, then talking about it, "Watch her, watch her." This was from some distance from the woman, as we were in the first aisle near the entrance door.
I like to relax and enjoy shopping - don't like this behavior. This is not to say other employees weren't helpful. Generally, I like the store and pricing helps my...
Read moreWinCo is just flat-out solid. The prices are low without you needing some fancy membership card, and the bulk section is next level. You can grab exactly what you need, whether it’s snacks, pasta, or spices, without overpaying. It’s a no-frills store, but that’s the point. They keep it simple, cut out the fluff, and pass the savings straight to you. Every trip feels like you’re walking out with more groceries for less money compared to anywhere else.
The other thing that makes WinCo stand out is the vibe. A lot of stores talk about being convenient, but WinCo actually delivers. Many are open 24/7, so you can shop whenever it fits your schedule. The selection is huge, from family-sized packs of meat to everyday essentials, and the employee-ownership model makes it feel like the workers actually care. It’s not just a grocery run; it feels like a win every...
