Edit: This has been resolved for me. However, be extra diligent about canceling if you sign up. Make sure you have it in writing and proof of cancellation. It seems that ownership has changed since I first signed up there and the facilities were nice while I was there so changing my rating but leaving my original review for reference. Find it below.
TL;DR DO NOT SIGN UP. IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL.
The facility was fine when I went for about a year, but then I moved out of state. I requested a cancellation in person at that time (a year ago) and from what I was told then assumed it was taken care of. Nope. I mainly use my credit card for things so I happened to review my bank account to see that they'd kept charging me for AN ENTIRE YEAR. At this stage in my life, my budget is much tighter so I immediately went to the Anytime Fitness site. There's a form to contact. I did that and no response over the next couple days. I called a couple times and left a voicemail. Nothing. I called my bank and told them to stop payment and ONLY THEN DID THEY CONTACT ME. Like seriously? So I ask them to cancel so I can put it behind me and they ask for proof of contact EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO EMAIL ON THEIR SITE. So they make it so the only means of contact are basically "untraceable" and then ask for proof so you can cancel. Please don't get screwed like I did. Or if you decide to anyways. When you're ready to cancel, tape a letter to the door, send them a letter, fill out their stupid form, and take a picture of all of it and then do a stop payment so when they contact you then you can send them the proof that you...
Read moreWe were excited to join this gym because of its convenient proximity, walking distance to our home. However, after working out here during a promotional “week free” we decided against. Here are the reasons:
There are no group classes. None. I don’t care what they say when they’re trying to sell you membership, but the group classes don’t exist.
The gym is decidedly over-priced for the amenities it offers. With no locker rooms, no pool, no courts, no sauna, showers, etc., the gym should cost roughly $30 per month. It’s twice that. Plus, my wife and I were offered no discount to join as a couple (we asked). The value just isn’t there.
The gym is considerably understaffed. I counted three employees in total (all trainers with one doubling as gm). The office is not open as early or late as the stated hours claim. When trying to join, we found it difficult to get anyone to even answer the door.
There is no towel service. They make it look like there should be, with towel baskets and a few towels in the laundry baskets, but in the week we visited, we never found one available clean towel to use. On top of this, we often found the paper towel dispensers empty. Which means…nobody is wiping sweat off of the equipment. Gross.
Anyway, I would still award two stars because the location and hours offer excellent convenience if you have money to burn.
We’d have joined if the value was better, and honestly, if the gym is properly staffed at some point, offers classes, and a functional towel service; and or lowers their price…we may still...
Read moreIt's fine. Has most of what most people need but honestly is lacking in a lot of ways. Some thoughts:
There's no reason why there should only be 3-4 extremely beat up and falling apart yoga mats for a gym where there is frequently 5-10+ people. Especially when the only real places to stretch are either a hard wood floor or this awful rough "carpet" area that straight tears up your skin.
The machines are lacking. Four squat/bench racks is nice but having only two adjustable cable machines (well really one if someone is using both) is not. The only stairmaster here squeaking so loud that it can't be used is irritating.
This is more of a complaint for anytime as a whole but how are you charging people for tanning when I can't even find a functional tanning bed? I moved down recently and they made it sound like tanning is a common thing, and they definitely didn't mention that it seems like no gyms within a 10 mile radius (maybe more?) Have no functional tanning bed to use yet I'm paying for it.
It's really not a bad gym for the casual gym goer. But if you're a casual gym goer you are going to have a hard time justifying spending 3x the price for a place that doesn't have more to offer than the massive $10/mo places. If you're heavily into weightlifting and things like that you might want to seek out more of a...
