When people are in a tight place, you see what they are made of; not good in her case.
Elizabeth S. Cook, Attorney was the closing attorney for the sale of our home in Atlanta. I could probably look beyond all the other mistakes that were made leading up to the closing if the closing had gone smoothly. It did not.
After the closing was completed, we received a message that the wire transfers would be held until additional requests from the buyer were completed.
She had a prior relationship with the buyer and it’s likely she was doing a favor for the buyer by letting the buyer add some additional conditions to the closing after the closing had occurred. This is highly unethical. The buyer had a chance to ask for additional items before the closing had occurred and they did not. That Elizabeth S. Cook, Attorney entertained the post-closing conditions is a breach of ethical conduct to the buyer's lender. The privilege of being admitted to a Bar means that in those tough moments you act ethically to those you represent (the buyer's lender in this role). "No, I can't add additional requirements and hold up the wire transfer" was the only answer that she should have given. It's beyond disappointing that she bowed to her friend the buyer and allowed the funds to be held for invalid reasons.
Avoid at all costs. If your transaction ends up in a contentious situation, you have no assurance that Elizabeth S. Cook, Attorney will act ethically.

Read moreI have to say that upon my very first meeting of Elizabeth she absolutely impressed me (which is not easy to do :-)! She (and her staff) have NEVER disappointed. One would think that all "Professionals" are professional - That has not been our experience using other real estate attorneys. In the last 3 years we've had 2 or 3 issues using other closing attorneys that have turned into possible litigation because they didn't do their job properly. As Investors & agents, our partners have dealt with many in the past in multiple states. She may not always be the cheapest for simple closings but as they say... You get what you pay for! We do NOT close with other attorneys when it comes to our personal investment properties or any time there are unusual circumstances. In my opinion she is the BEST in the business. Keep up your excellent work - You guys are dearly appreciated by Fresh Start...
Read moreFive Stars is not high enough to rate my experience with Elizabeth Cook and her legal staff. As a Realtor communication is key to my business and they attorney is a very large part of each transaction. Elizabeth is always knowledgeable, and accessible. Two years ago I had a client who had purchased a condo for their daughter.... The tax bill never went to the actual owner, but the foreclosure notice came on New Years weekend. Elizabeth readily accepted my clients urgent call and gave them all the information to have this corrected before the Monday arrived - the first day of the Year... She saved them from a horrible holiday weekend and saved them from having to rush to courthouse. Always Awesome...
