This place Papa Dux is small but decorated really nice. The problem is we arrived and had trouble with lighting the fire pit. My wife called and no answer. My wife messaged and no answer. We also had problems with the couch bed, and no answer. We did not get an a call back until the next morning. We were wine tasting. For the price point of this place I feel gouged. We paid $800.00 a night! Ridiculous for not having anyone available to help us. To make things worse the owner Rajiv tried to play nice by bringing my wife a cheap bottle of wine as a sorry but then took it a step further and offered my wife a 2 night stay mid week. He told her to have me call him and he would give me the code. Well I reached out and it was crickets. So Rajiv is a liar. Over all a disappointing stay. Rajiv I’m sure will come back with some BS story to try to save this review! There are so many other places to stay in Santa Barbara. Stay clear...
Read moreMy spouse and young adult daughter stayed in Papa Dux in early August and found it spotlessly clean, well-designed, and comfortable, and in an excellent location. We loved the outdoor deck off the living room with beautiful views, and we appreciated (and used!) the free bicycles, beach chairs, and beach umbrella. Thoughtful touches on the property (nice blankets, artwork, lovely plants on the deck) made it feel like we were residents, not tourists. Debbie responded immediately to our questions. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the traffic noise both from the street and from Highway 101, which is 2 blocks away. My family is not a fan of air-conditioning, and because it was late summer and perfect weather, we wanted to leave the windows open. But the traffic noise was a disturbance for me at night (I'm sensitive to noise). This is out of the owner's control, but I'm noting it in fairness. All in all we had a...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed at The Papa Dux recently, and it was a really great experience! The location made it super convenient to explore all the fun spots in the area. It took less than five minutes to walk to State Street, where there are lots of shops and restaurants. The Funk Zone was also about 10 minutes away. Even the wharf was close enough to walk to for a nice walk by the water.
The place itself was clean and comfortable, and even though there were other guests staying at the Mama Dux, there was great noise isolation. The stairs were a little narrow, but not a big problem. The host communicated really well, making check-in and the stay super easy. Overall, I had a really nice time and would definitely think about staying at the...
