Got assigned to Kaiser Permanente Santa Cruz through my insurance through work. I deal heavily with kidney stone pain almost on a daily basis and go through spells where it’s really bad passing big ones. Anyway I was missing lots of work and would have to go into the doctors office to get checked out and to get notes for my work to keep that job. They didn’t help much with the kidney stone pain or many ideas other than drink lots of water. If anybody knows about kidney stones that’s like on the first page of kidney stones for dummies. But that’s not what I’m upset about. My work eventually gave me a reasonable accommodation paper to bring to my primary physician for her to fill out on me and my condition for my work. On the day I’m scheduled for an appointment with Dr Harrington with that paper in hand I’m told on arrival that she is on personal leave of absence. So I see Dr Choi who I explain my whole situation to and give her the paper from my work. Now this paper needs to be returned within 30 days of when I got it from my work. She says she will take care of it and if anything if she can’t fill it out she’ll be in contact with Dr Harrington. So I don’t hear anything back about it ever. I try using that Kaiser Permanente message center thing but get the doctors assistants always saying they’ll relay the message to the doctor in which I don’t hear anything back. Long story short now. I get let go from my work for not returning the paperwork back to them in time, that they still have to my knowledge. I therefore lose my insurance through Kaiser bc I lost my job. Then I try to get unemployment and get denied bc they say I quit voluntarily bc I didn’t return THAT paper. I use the message center again to try to atleast have Dr Harrington help by writing a letter explaining my situation and her leave of absence and then dropping the ball on me basically so I can fight unemployment and make rent here in Santa Cruz. But instead I get a letter saying I have kidney stones and that’s it....and on top of that they butcher my name in the letter so it wouldn’t even matter to the unemployment office. Anyway I’ve been trying to reach out to them respectfully and professionally and recently they discontinued my message center through Kaiser so here I am telling you to stay far far far away from Kaiser in Santa Cruz. They lack organizational, communication and professionalism skills! The 3 things you want in a doctors office. Thanks for reading this if you got through it all. Hope it helps you make your decision easier when deciding who to choose for your...
Read moreI've been experiencing some on going and persistent health issues that I came to Kaiser to be treated for. The facilitaties are clean, the staff is kind the operations over all are great. However NP Seol was awful. She barley spent anytime talking to me about my health issue. It was clear she was trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I had to be persistent about getting testing. She barley got any information and told me she thought I had a condition though she wouldn't test me for it because she didn't want to treat me for it. She prescribed me a medication I told her my body has not reacted very well too yet she prescribed it to me anyways. She did not take my health concerns seriously. I scheduled a follow up appointment which resulted with me in tears from frustration and feeling scared about my health. She showed no compassion or concern for my health. I really don't understand why she is in this profession. I work four jobs, and honestly I can't afford to spare the time or money on all these appointments where I get no help. I'm genuinely concerned for my health and I don't know what todo. This was once of the worst experience I've had in medicine. If I could afford to switch from Kaiser to something else I would I am scared for my health and I'm not getting the care that I need. I just asked to switch doctors and I'm hoping that this person can help me but overall this was a terrible experience. I would recommend going anywhere...
Read moreLast week I was offered a 9am appointment on Monday to see the triage nurse and was happy. However, I had the worst medical appointment I can remember. The nurse was abrasive, scolding, and 30 minutes late. She resented me for coming on Monday because it's her busiest day. She implied I was trying to get something free from her, because the appointment was a no-charge appointment and that she probably couldn't do correctly what needed to be done anyway. Needless to say I didn't feel welcome or comfortable having her treat me. I said her bedside manner could be better. She got angry and said I was patronizing her. I made the mistake of not leaving then, thinking I could still get done what was needed. Half way through I felt sick and dizzy and worried that her bad day was being taken out on me. I left thinking I can't wait to leave Kaiser. I am hoping urgent care in Scotts Valley will be better when I go there to have done what I need. This was my second appointment with Kaiser...
