Some people should not work in Customer Service. I work in the food industry and im always smiling and acknowledging my customers the people who support business. The last three visits not one, two, THREE have been absolutely horrible. The Sebastopol location has this one young gentleman with short black hair who is rude and doesn’t pack pastries right. Cheese was falling off of my veggie croissant right in front of me because he was trying to shove it in a small bag. I asked for a little box instead because i know that you guys have them. He looks at me all annoyed before he got it for me which was uncalled for. i still thanked him and wished him a good day. He didnt say anything back. I Didnt say anything or write any reviews. Second trip fast forward a week. I go to the Santa Rosa Location which usually has super good service. There, i waited for at least 5 minutes (no im not over exaggerating) before getting helped. Didn’t get reassured that they would be with me in a few minutes not a welcome in, not nothing and i was the only one waiting in line. Two workers were there and one was helping ring a customer up. The other one was just laughing with the girl ringing the customer up not helping me whatsoever or even acknowledging i was there. There was at least 5 workers that saw me and just chose to walk by and ignore , it felt like they didn't care and i thought wow this us so unprofessional id never treat paying customers that way. i was getting very upset, when finally i got helped, i ended up getting 7 or 8 pastries and i told the girl who took my order what i was getting. She kinda snapped at me and asked anything else in a sarcastic way. I was so disappointed. Still DID not leave one review. Fast forward to today. i wanted to go try the Petaluma location because i was in Petaluma and was close to it. I go out and walk in. Three workers are all in there doing nothing just walking around talking joking. I didn’t get a welcome in, hello, hows your day? None of it. Instead they chose to ignore me for about 2 minutes (Not nearly as bad as Santa Rosa but was still really upset bc no one was in the shop but me that was in line so theres no excuse) but all she did was ask what i wanted in a rude voice. Here i am thinking ‘Oh my God you have got to be kidding me, three times in a row? Like again? With these young employees with so much attitude that act like they dont care about their job/income, dont value paying customers? And choose to just joke and laugh with their coworkers. Like at least act like you give a crap throw on a smile. And do all that when they’re no customers. I walked out after getting my pastries and i dont know when I’ll be returning to any of the locations. The pastries are bomb but the Customer service recently is just 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 down the drain. Its a shame...
Read moreI dropped by the soft opening to check out the croissants. I didn't realize they opened at 8:30, so the store was closed when I arrived. So I waited in the car until I noticed a line forming whereupon I got into line and continued to wait. The aroma of fresh bake bread (and butter) products was worth the wait. The place opened a couple minutes late, but they had a sign out warning that they're just getting started and getting trained, so no strikes for that. I ordered a pain au chocolate and a plain croissant. I am not usually a big fan of pain au chocolate, but I wanted to try them both. Of the two, I preferred the plain croissant. It had a delicious simple flavor. The texture was flakey and just firm enough. The pain au chocolate had good chocolate flavor and not overwhelming, but the texture was more bread like and less flakey than the croissant. I assume that that is the standard, though I've never been to France, let alone enjoyed a real French pain au chocolate. The staff was not comfortable with the cash register yet, but very friendly. Lots of smiling eyes peeking out over their masks. The decor was simple, comfortable, and welcoming. I have got to go back and try some of the bread (as opposed to pastry) options, not to mention the coffee. When I first visited Sarmentine I expressed concern that they might not survive as a business and disappointment that their hours were so limited. I am glad that they seem to be thriving and they have added hours. They are only closed Sunday and Monday and they are open from 7:30am to 4pm and 8:30am to 3pm on Saturdays. The only reason to not go in every day on my way to work is the effect it would have on...
Read moreIf you love quality baked goods, this place is for you! I stayed in Santa Rosa for a week and went here twice. The set up is a glass case with the options, wait in line, order, pay, and take your goodies to a table or to go. I went on a Monday & Friday morning around 830, and there was a good amount of people. No line on Monday but about 6 people ahead of me on Friday. This location is located in a little strip mall so parking can be crowded.
I got so many baked goods & everything was incredible. No complaints, only praises! Items I tried were the lemon meringue pastry, vanilla eclair, chocolate croissant, regular croissant, almond chocolate croissant, baguette, cannels things (on top of the counter), fleur de sucre, chocolate orange creams puffs. I would get everything and more over again!
The only thing I disliked was the set up. Not sure how you would even fix it, but all the goodies are lined up in a glass case and you can only see the ones In front of you, if there is a line you won't be able to get a whole glimpse of the options until you make your way down, therefore ordering is harder if it's your first time there. Even if not your first time, you wanna see all the options! I also get anxiety when the workers and customers are just looking at you while you look at all the options ahhh getting sweaty palms just thinking about it.
They also serve coffee options w Straus's milk, my mom and I both got regular coffee which was good. There is seating to the side and seating out front which is a nice like place to eat your goodies. Overall, a must visit when...
