Tried to make a simple exchange for some Nike weightlifting gloves that I had bought four days ago, used once, and the stitching in several places was coming undone already. I could not find the receipt, but figured an exchange could be made for the exact same product in hopes that they would hold up better. I was told that my only options were to return the gloved for literally $2.32 since I had no proof of purchase and they were used, or keep the poor quality ones I already had. The manager came over and said he would just have to go in the back to track down my receipt since my scorecard rewards card was not used for the initial purchase (not sure why the cashier didn’t do this then…). While this was all happening a simple google search leads me to the Dick’s website where it claims “ We provide a free and easy returns process”. The entire process took over 10 minutes for a simple exchange. And below that headline on the Dick’s website it says “Returns without a Valid Proof of Purchase must be returned using a valid ID and will receive a store credit for the lowest selling price. Store credit may be used for in-store merchandise purchases only.” So I’m really confused as to why the process was so drawn out and they felt a need to find proof of purchase when the website says that’s not required for returns. Overall just a frustrating and drawn out experience that makes me not really want to go back. Could have been handled a lot better and faster. Additionally, when I was looking at gloves the initial trip to the store, I was there at the workout section searching for gloves for several minutes and also looking at the options once I found them for another ten minutes and no one asked if I needed help. Would rather shop online than deal with the poor customer...
Read moreTerrible biz model. Don’t shop here! Next bankruptcy is around the corner in my opinion. My wife and I tried to return a measly $14.99 fishing thing that was a present from her to me and though we had the receipt (it was hard to read), we were told we would get .96 cents!! That’s because one person in the last 60 days was able to buy the same product for that amount with coupons and promotions even though this product never retailed for less than $14.99 during this time and our receipt indicated no promotions or discounts were used during our purchase. A store credit would have been perfect, as is the process in other reputable retail businesses given similar circumstances. We were already to purchase an amount higher at that point and have truly spent thousands over the years. While the new and current policies in place saved Dicks the slight possibility somebody was trying to scam $14 ($15-$14=$1 - what they offered this evening), they truly stepped over dollars to pick up pennies. When I experience great service I post or complete the store survey because the feedback is something I’d like if I managed or owned the biz; the same holds true if the experience was astonishingly negative. If I was a stock holder in this company, knowing its history and current policies, I’d bail out quickly! There’s way too much competion out there to be treated in this manner and we will share this with our friends so that they are aware before making purchases at the Sarasota/ UTC store or any others. Feel free to reach out to me...
Read moreHusband, myself and my 3 year old son went into this location so my husband could look at Costa sunglasses. Two male employees (one of them who walked all the way from the shoes and I know this because he approached us in that department and asked if we needed help with anything) were talking there at the front case. My husband asked if these were all the sunglasses that were available and was told yeah they are. One male employee walked away while the other just stood there. When my husband asked to see a pair the other male employee turned around and waved a customer over to help him meanwhile there were 2 female cashiers across at the other registers. Then the male employee looked back at my husband but didn't acknowledge him again. So my husband told me let's go. I walked out thinking something was wrong but he wouldn't tell me until we got in the car. If I would have known what had happened I would have had my husband take my son out to our car and had some words with the employees. I myself work retail and know very well that the treatment we received today was poor and rude customer service. We decided that Dicks would not be getting our business and we will be shopping online or at another...
