I came in on Tuesday. Let me set the scene 2 young female Caucasian workers walking around the store not paying attention to anyone. I was not greeted when i came in. Nor, did the 2 workers acknowledge me at any point i was in the store. 3 white women in the store. 2 young 1 older. One young firm is coming out of the dressing room as I walk to approach earrings. The other 2 ladies are at the rings. Kinda near me which is why I noticed them. The young girl is trying on every ring she can. Store workers didn't care to notice what was going on. There was no hovering. 4 young mixed black girls walk in the store. The 2 workers are suddenly aware of the new customers that walk in. I move about since i notice a shift change in the store. The 4 girls walk through the store. I'm back at the rings when the girls come over to start looking at them as well. All of Sudden one of the workers is at the cash rack looking at the 4 girls. Watching. HOVERING. I keep quiet and just observe the scene. The girls move after roughly 3 minutes of looking at the rings. Trying them on etc. Within another 3 minutes the girls are out of the store. I hang back to keep looking for a dress. Wouldn't you imagine as soon as those 4 girls walked out of the store both workers swarmed the ring section to make sure nothing was stolen. Making sure every ring was in its place. Here's an idea for this store... instead of choosing to hackeye the black girls that come in your store, take your $12.99 rings and put them in a case with a lock. It was sad to see this behavior 2023. The way the other girl was into rings before these 4 girls were there, she could've taken a ring but it wouldn't have been noticed cause once she left the store no one went to see if there were rings missing. So the 4 mixed black girls would've been blamed for the missing rings. After seeing this occur in one of my favorite store in Saugatuck, an accepting community, I'll never again shop in that store. I thought the 2 workers behavior was obvious. I was disgusted and saddened. If you're going to watch 1 group of people a specific way watch all the groups of people the exact same way. Mortified by the staffs behavior in this store.
My daughter and I always spend big money at this store every summer. After this experience where my daughter, daughter in law and 2 friends were watched like that. Never again.
( the workers didn't even notice me cause they were pressed about my daughter's. I guess the benefit of looking a certain race even though I too am of full minority...
Read moreIf you want to be completely ignored, go to this store. My friend and I went to the one that was next to City Hall and two young girls were working maybe it was their first day I have no idea it would’ve been great to at least have been greeted with a hello or even a goodbye or can I help you maybe they received no training from whoever hire them. Maybe they have never had a job before in customer service. Either way there was some cute stuff but the experience and the lack of any interaction as we tried on clothing totally killed our desire to buy anything vibe. Lots of great options in the area fortunately, and lots of really cute clothing and other places as well. Hopefully they will figure it out. I don’t mean to be harsh, but it was a little ridiculous to listen to them banter behind...
Read moreI thought it was me, but it sounds like a common vibe. Most people working at stores are approachable. This store has two young girls who are pretty busy talking about boys, other girls, and their lives. When they check you out, they state the total in a commanding voice while talking to her co-worker and not even saying thank you for shopping at our store today. Makes me glad I put most of the stuff I was going to buy back because they didn't seem to...
