一定检查小票!!! 实收价格与店内价格严重不符。
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!! You are ALWAYS charged more through some hidden ways.
We have been shopping in this supermarket for the past two months and here is what happened:
The 1st Time--Wrong Price for Pears I love Korean pears. So as long as I find Korean pears in the grocery stores, I would grab them. They usually cost me $5.99 or $6.99 for a pack. The Korean pears were tagged $6.99 in this store, so I got some as usually. However, while occasionally looking at the receipt after checking out, I noticed that they charged me $8.99 for the Korean pears. I talked to their manager. Their manager told me there is something wrong with their system. I understand that there may be something wrong with the system, so I returned the Korean pears.
The 2nd Time--Wrong Price for Pears I went to the store again after a week and got the Korean pears. To my surprise, the price was still $8.99 on the receipt, which is $2 more than the tagged price. That is horrible. I could not understand why the system problem had not been fixed after a whole week.
The 3rd Time--Wrong Price for Lots of Products I went there to grab some snacks and frozen foods two weeks later. This time, I noticed that the price of the Korean pears were changed to $8.99. After one month! But I decided not to get the Korean pears anymore, because they are way too expensive compare to other asian supermarkets. I got some frozen foods and paid for them. Before leaving, I intentionally checked the receipt and found that the price was wrong AGAIN. I talked to the manager who explained that there was something wrong with the scanning of the store card. Although the cashier did scan the store card, I still paid full price for all the groceries. Since I caught this mistake, they returned the money to my store card.
The Nth Time--Wrong Price Again and Really Sh**ty Attitude I went there this weekend and found out that all the sale item were charged the original price. To be honest, I was not surprised at all. Because my past experience told me that they could never get it right. I just need to get whatever I need, return those with wrong prices and leave. However, things got even harder this time.
Their store manager (the lady) was incredibly rude this time! We went through 3 rounds of negotiation. Round 1--She admitted the price was wrong but refused to returned any produce. Because no produce can be returned. (Is it the strategy they developed after the Korean pear accident?) Round 2--She only agreed to return the money to my store card which I left in my car in the parking lot. Round 3--She finally agreed to return the money and the amount was not correct. I found that after getting on my car while I was emotionally too exhausted to go back to the store.
Although I am not a professional in retailing, I assume that pricing mistakes are never fun. It is a shame that they keep saying "we value our customers" while allowing the pricing error to happen again and again. Since I have no desire to deal with their unreasonable manager anymore, I will stop shopping there.
If you shop there often, please make sure you check your receipt...
Read moreI've been dying to go here all week after finding it online. It did not disappoint! (A note: the name "Fresh International Market" can be a little deceiving. Don't go in here expecting to find products from around the globe. It's mainly Asian products, which is exactly what I was looking for.)
A few things were closed inside, including the hot buffet that I saw pictures of in other reviews. I'm assuming that's due to the risk of spreading covid. I did buy an eel roll that was fantastic, though. Normally store bought eel rolls still have the chewy skin on, but this one was properly prepared without it. It was perfect. I also bought some roasted pork belly to serve as an appetizer with dinner tonight. It looks and smells amazing.
There are so many options. I was excited to find yellow dragon fruit and frozen soup dumplings. Both things that I haven't been able to find since moving back here almost eight years ago. There's a lot of fresh and frozen meat and fish. The variety and prices are amazing. I'm so excited that I can buy duck wings, fresh scallops, masago, and snails here. Please know that there is live seafood which can be upsetting to anyone who either doesn't eat meat, or to anyone who can't imagine killing something to eat themselves. I was worried about my son seeing the frogs and turtles that I've seen in other reviews (we have a pet turtle), but luckily they were either in back or weren't being sold today.
The only thing I couldn't find that I was looking for is "XO Sauce". I have a fantastic recipe to make it myself, and found the proper ingredients for it, but it's just so much more convenient to buy it premade.
It's a little out of the way for us, but well worth the drive. I'm definitely going to come back several...
Read moreWe've been coming here at least once a week since they had their soft opening, mostly for their food at the food court. We don't grocery shop much, but the grocery prices seem comparable to Mitsuwa, maybe a little cheaper. The things that we have bought we've really enjoyed, such as:
The food court is a bit small, but the roast duck and salted duck are great. About a dollar more than in Chinatown, but we don't have to go down there now to get good Roast Duck. Beef noodle soup is great, with a good amount of beef. Pho is pretty good too. Not the best, but tasty with a good amount of meat. The food in the hot bar changes daily, I think depending on the cook that day. There are some good dishes in the hot bar. The bakery has a good amount of different pastries. Most of the pastries are about 2 something, but there's a few pastries that are 1 something like the japanese red bean bun. We usually stick with that and the custard bun. Wish they had the variety and cheap prices as the bakeries down in Chinatown, but I don't think it would ever be cost effective for them here. They have a great variety of chinese snacks and desserts. I was excited when I saw guai guai corn snacks there, I haven't had them since I was a kid. I had my daughter try them and she loved them as well, so I was happy to share something with her that I enjoyed as a child. I just wish they included a toy in the snacks still. We also like their red bean in sticky rice wrapped in leaves as well.
I hope International Village is successful and stays in business for a long time. They're just a 7 minute drive from my house and we will regularly buy food and dessert from...
