This stay was less than average in every way. The worst experience I've had at a Marriott yet and considering cancelling my Marriott card and Gold elite membership. First thing is, it's hard to get to. It's connected to the Fairfield and if the Fairfield is cheaper you should stay there as they share breakfast, pool, and exercise room. You are not getting anything special by staying at the Town place. Next is that on my reservation it started that a ton was guaranteed, the room did not have a tub. With gold status you are, I assume, supposed to get room upgrades and did I did not not have ever yet. We went to speak with front desk and they changed the room at request. Which, if they had the room why weren't we upgraded? I really don't care much about it but why say you'll get it? Next is the options of selection's of the elite app, high room, foam pillows, extra towels. I have yet to be at a Marriott where any of that had been honored either. Side door on the building that states it is locked was never locked, at least when we tried it several times before 8 pm. Coffee in the lobby of Towne place was room temperature and only filled up half a small cup. Tub in the room is as deep as a bottle of water and a couple inches above that. New room was a suite with king bed which has a sofa. A two seat sofa and the bed had 3 pillows. The mobile app also stated you get a mobile key, but that didn't work at the time of stay. I booked this reservation online, and during the several times I looked it states the pool will be closed for several days, guess what!? The pool was open.... But we didn't pack anything for that because why would you? Asked the front desk person and she stated she had known about it and she's told the manager but yet they can't send an email to people making reservations during that time frame that the pool will be open? Rather annoying. Now for breakfast which again the worst yet. For starters it was in the Fairfield side. Why don't they put signage on The Town place side stating that? Put them out Friday night so your guests will now. Or anything out that states there is another section you can go to over there? Hot food was eggs, turkey sausage and pork sausage. No potatoes or anything else. Had the usual waffle maker stuff though but I don't care about that, especially when you have two hotels sharing the breakfast bar. Oatmeal was very watery and again the coffee was just warm, not hot or anything. They also had bananas cut up with that looked like some sort of cinnamon stuff on it but no sign saying what it was. The people at the front desk were helpful as much they could be however and the best part of the stay was that the breakfast had Tabasco sauce to put on the mediocre eggs. They also have signs up saying they are not using plastics, trying to recycle but there was nothing that showed it. Plastic silverware and juice cups and they all went into the garbage. Oddly they had a small plastic table set up in a corner the has to pieces of paper taped to the wall above it. One said put utensils here and the other said plates here. That's all, no bins or bussing containers. Just a bare table I guess they expected people to toss dirty plastic silverware and and paper plates on? Not exactly sure what they were expecting to happen here. I'm glad the GM decided to be as so petty to reply. As you can measure your item water bottle you can see the bath isn't the minimum listed. I also never complained about how far it is to walk, but if that's all they can come back with you can tell it's not a well ran hotel. I also appreciate the few times the GM states he does the bare minimum required. It goes to show you, that's how this hotel is ran. The bare minimum.

Go solid value for your travel dollar. Gym and pool better then most hotels. Conference rooms available. Breakfast was tasty and fresh but like most is available in the lobby area. I'd prefer a less open space without a draft from the door but still comfortable and clean. Nothing fancy about the rooms but they are clean and functional. Of the many hotels bunched together in this area you may want to pick this one because I see no real faults here. In warmer weather it would be nice to sit by the pond or use the BBQ grills out side. Pet friendly.

  • I wanted to update my review because although this place is clean you have to know that they do not necessarily follow the guidelines as much as I had hoped as far as the pandemic and safety. They allowed a large birthday party to take place with more people than what would be considered safe (30+ people) in the front lobby where you had to walk through the "party" to get to your room. When I brought this to the GM he said that others are allowed to use the hotel as well. Well, using their hotel room is reasonable - but having a HUGE pizza birthday party with kids and adults and people standing in the lobby and pathway to elevators and outside the front doors smoking - that filled the ENTIRE lobby area - was not only unsafe - it was completely unthoughtful of other guests. The GM told me to use another door to get to the elevators but it didn't matter because all these people were all within a 6 foot distance - many without masks on while in the lobby eating and drinking and having a party. During a pandemic, it showed that he was more interested in the money he was making vs. the safety of guests.

I can't say how "was" your stay because I am still here. However, I had a horrible experience at another property - and drove around visiting several hotels in Schaumburg for a need for a long term stay in between moving from one place to another while I complete some remodeling. The moment I stepped into the Fairfield / Townplace suites - I knew I could live here for an extended period. I am SUPER picky - like extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness. The place is immaculate. The staff is kind, helpful, and accommodating. Never a delay or hesitation to meet a request or need. I had inquired about something and that same evening the assistant GM confirmed my request before the night was over. I can't say enough about all the staff and management. The GM Chris Huber personally came up to welcome me and help me with my closet - recommend places to go - directed me to proper people for my questions. The front desk I walked in and met Llyod and Val who were so empathetic to my situation. Then of course there was Claudia, Sam, Chris from Maintenance and Nick!!! he so kindly helped me move my stuff upstairs. I swear I have not encountered ONE person who had any sort of hint of attitude at all. Which is rare at any service establishment.

Now for the room itself - the one bedroom is spacious - feels like a little apartment - I cleaned everything "again" due to Covid - but I couldn't get one dirt mark off anything. This was not the case at the "other" establishment - I had 6 towels of filth. The kitchen is stocked with really nice dish and glass ware, serving pieces, anything you can think of! Had I known I wouldn't have had to move all my stuff here!

The bed is firm - but I had a gel topper delivered from kohls for 40 bucks - and honestly I haven't slept better in over a year! I think I am going to buy a firm bed when I move into my new place. The TVs are amazing. The Bathroom - OK SPARKLING - I kid you not. The tub was SPARKLING. I took a bath. WHo takes a bath at a hotel? Well in this place you will feel like you can.

So I am glad I don't have to rush my remodel - because this place feels like home. Chris (GM) said the first day "welcome to the family" and clearly he...

I am writing this review not to be petty but to be truthful and to warn others that they might encounter the same shady treatment as I had received last Sunday at this hotel. Early on Sunday morning I called this hotel and shared my Marriot rewards membership with them then stated that I had previously stayed at a Hawthorne Suites for a month but when my room type had been sold out I had to leave. I shared too much information with the front desk clerk assuming he would be mature and he assured me they had plenty of room availability for the week of the Memorial Day Holiday. I then organized my belongings which was quite a bit of stuff and called all star cabs way ahead of time. I asked if my room could be ready by 1 and he said he'd do his best. I said I'd prefer to pay in cash upon check in since I own a green dot card and he said no problem. I also mentioned my service dog weighs 92 pounds and is rather tall and that I have a pet cat with me. I was informed of a non refundable pet fee of $150 and that they had a special manager's discount available so I was thrilled. Once I arrived I left my pets in the cab and tried to check in. I was informed my room was not ready so I asked where I could tie up my dog and he pointed to the parking lot far away from the front entry way. After the cab driver had unloaded everything including an antique chair on the front sidewalk an Indian man informed me that they are oversold out for the next day and it would not make sense for me to check in, pay their pet fee and stay for just one day so he denied me a room and said my dog was barking outside and guests would soon complain. I paid my cab driver $64 to help me reload all my belongings and had to scramble for a new hotel immediately. Mind you my dog is old and is half blind. I was denied a room and later that day on Sunday I called a Marriot customer sales member and she called the property asking them why they turned a good customer away. She was not given a good reason other than they told her they did not want me as a hotel guest. They had a ton of room availability according to their hotel inventory and they turned me away without having a good reason. I strongly advise all of you with pets to please look into a different location based on the fact that I was turned away because my dog barked outside the premises. I will not ever attempt to book a room at this property ever again based on the discrimination I received. If you read the reviews on this property it is apparent that certain types of people are discriminated against to be please heed this warning and do not let this happen to you. I lost $64.00 and my poor dog was truly upset having to wait outside in the hot sun only to be...
