A 43 year old newbie! Erik Sacony and the rest of the folks at Studio 29 were absolutely fantastic. If you’re reading this and a first timer like me, I can’t speak more highly of Erik and the professionalism of the shop, super clean and inviting. I’ve been looking to get a tattoo since my college days. (When I turned 40 I was determined to do it, so really it only took three more years :) ). My reluctance has only been because I could never find the right art/artist to do the work (and the needles)... In-steps Erik who sent me beautiful sketch of exactly what I was looking for. We set up a date and I time and off I went. When I arrived at Studio 29 Erik walked me through the entire process and equipment before we started. Erik’s patience was crucial in calming my slight anxiety and he allowed for as many breaks as I needed. Once the tattoo was complete Erik carefully explained the aftercare instructions and sent me on my way. But it doesn’t stop there, I’m just about a week in and Erik continues to periodically check-in to make sure everything is progressing as it should (I also had a few questions and he got right back to me). This is my first tattoo at this studio, but my fourth tattoo overall, and the quality of not only art but service that Gail and Robin provide is above and beyond! This was my first sitting (the second will add a watercolor component), and I was so impressed with the design Gail created for me. After a single conversation, she was able to to create something that fit together so many pieces of my life in a beautiful harmony (and also matched my body and personal taste!) And the experience of being tattooed was far and away the best I've ever had. Gail's touch was light, and the studio setup is personal, private, quiet, and soothing (despite the needles!) There's really no way to quantify what it means to know someone has thought about your psychological safety and how much easier that makes a usually nerve-racking experience. The first time I went I told Gerel, I wanted I love you in Spanish…which is Te quiero. I let her know I’m up for anything do what you do. She hooked it up unbelievably where she placed it in a heart and incorporated my sons and husbands first letter of their name in it. She placed it on my neck and she was so gentle before I realized it, it was over. Since then she had a customer in me. My second piece was day of the dead, I told her have fun with it and put your style in it. When it was time to get it done it looked totally awesome and I couldn’t believe it. The best part is her partner too Robin, they make you feel so comfortable and welcomed we talked the whole time for both tattoos.
