I have been a loyal customer and patient of Dr. Paul and Eye Care of North Jersey for over a decade. I find them to do a better fitting than ophthalmologists I had used. And, the staff is also very friendly and professional. I always get a new pair of glasses with the new prescription lenses.
Since new glasses are very overinflated in price ($600 for simple glasses), I always ask for a written prescription which I use to send in with my old frames for new lenses for my emergency backup glasses using a reputable online company. It saves me $100 for the lenses which makes it reasonable and I avoid paying $600 for an entirely new pair of glasses which I may never use.
In the past, I have always been provided with a complete written prescription which includes a measurement called the “pupillary distance” (PD) which is needed for a proper fitting.
When I came home from a recent visit to Eye Care of North Jersey and looked at the prescription there was no PD. When I asked why there was no PD I was told that the new ownership group had changed the policy and would not provide customers with the PD which they said was because it was an additional measurement. Upon thinking this over, I realized that they had to have my PD already or they couldn’t provide me with a proper fitting.
I believe this “disingenuous” excuse is very unprofessional and unethical. Even if they needed to do another measurement, which they either had to have already done or didn’t do it which would mean my new prescription glasses would not be properly fitted.
Fortunately for me, I happen to have the last written prescription which had a PD. When I researched online I was happy to learn that your PD does not generally change unless you undergo a growth spurt so I will be able to get my “new” backup emergency glasses and save myself a nice amount of money.
Though I already have my new glasses and won’t need a new prescription and complete eye exam for a couple of years, I am definitely going to highly consider using new practice. Holding back the PD, is in essence like holding my ability to get new glasses from whichever business I choose to use hostage.
I hope they change this “policy” because it is very petty and just makes me feel like I was...
Read moreUPDATE 12/2024: My most recent appointment was with Dr. Savitz. I held no preconceived notions, as the practice has recently changed hands, but would be remiss if I didn’t mention how pleasantly and immediately surprised I was by the professionalism, the knowledge and the expertise on display by this new young doctor. The visit was highly informative and I left understanding a lot more about the importance and the necessity of the repetitious regimen as it pertains to my eye health. Dr. Savitz brought the logic for me. He is thorough and on top of his game. There were some new faces and some familiars at the front desk. Let me just say that these ladies are also and have always been very professional and warm, each bringing their own niche to what I would describe as a well rounded business establishment. This eyecare center still remains premier in my opinion. Check them out, you will not be disappointed!! I’m 52 now and wouldn’t trust anyone else with the care of these eyes!
(Old review) Drs. Paul and Mark Levinson are by far, two of the leading doctors in their field of optometry. The practice is filled with state of the art diagnostic machines with software that is updated regularly, according to a staff member. I went to see Dr. Paul, a few days ago, after not seeing him for six years (was in GA), and he did not disappoint. He was attentive to every detail of my examination and thorough. The staff members were professional and also very attentive to my every need. The atmosphere as always, was beyond pleasant; spotless with good music. These guys remind me of what businesses used to be like back in the day. Service like what I received here, is severely lacking nowadays. I’ve been seeing these guys since my late teens and am now 49. No way in the world, I’d give anyone else the business of taking care of my eyes. I can’t laud them enough, they are masters at their craft. North Jersey Eyecare Center is stellar! Check them out. You won’t be...
Read moreI visited The Eye Care Center of North Jersey yesterday for some follow up tests for an eye issue that Dr. Savitz discovered about a year ago. Yesterday’s visit was wonderful as have been my previous appointments. The woman who did my testing, Mandi was one of the people I met at my first appointment exactly 1 year ago. She was so kind, patient and caring. She explained every test that she was doing and why it was being done. How much better can you get!? Then I saw Dr. Savitz and again he was wonderful… further explaining the tests and procedures that were done while offering options for my future eye care. I am confident with the care that I receive at each visit. Thank you!!
I had a wonderful experience with Dr Savitz and his entire staff. The first woman who welcomed me was lovely (and I’m so sorry but I didn’t get her name.) The tech was wonderful as well as was Laurie who helped me with my bill and scheduling a follow up visit. I stopped in the eyeglass area with no intention of buying glasses as I was just browsing. That changed when I was greeted by.Tiangel and another blonde woman (sorry no name again but she said she was fairly new there and loved working with the staff and doctors) Both women were friendly and welcoming. Neither of them pushed me to purchase anything ( but I did!) I left a very happy customer. Thank you to everyone who I interacted...
