I have not had such spectacularly bad service from a business in a long time. I ordered through Uber Eats for delivery to a location 5 minutes away, and it took over an hour and a half to get lukewarm food (mostly because the restaurant claimed an app glitch caused my order to be cancelled so I had to reorder) -- including entrees that were missing the pasta they were supposed to come with. The shrimp scampi entree was just six shrimp in a box. That's it. My eggplant parmesan entree was also missing pasta although both the shrimp and eggplant were advertised on the menu as coming with pasta included. Things went from bad to worse when I called to inquire about this and the manager, John, had the nerve to tell me this was my fault as I didn't select a specific type of pasta. When I explained that there was no option or direction to do so on the UberEats app, John told me that it was Uber's fault and that it was somehow my responsibility to make sure his restaurant's menu is correct. John then got an attitude and told me I should have ordered directly instead of through an app. Well John, I won't be ordering anything from your restaurant ever again. Tip for the management: if you don't want to offer service through a delivery app, then don't sign up for that app. And if you don't want to be in the customer service business, maybe a restaurant is not for you.
Food was very average and you can get the same or better from one of the many Italian restaurants in the area.
Update: It is unfortunate that instead of looking into the menu issue that is clearly illustrated in the review and screenshots attached herein, the restaurant is once again blaming the customer rather than acknowledging that what they are saying simply doesn't line up with the reality of how their menu is advertised or how the technology involved works. I was able to get a refund for the missing pasta from Uber, but that does not nearly cover the aggravation and stress of having a house full of hungry people and experiencing all these issues that just simply don't exist with other restaurants on the platform. It was my mistake to reorder and give them a second chance when the restaurant cancelled my order after nearly 20 minutes of it showing up as being in the works on the...
Read moreThis has been one of the worst dining experiences in my life. The plan was to have a nice dinner with my wife for our 41 anniversary. There was a large group that the waiter described as regulars, apparently local law enforcement. They were loud, vulgar, one in particular seemed to take great delight in shouting down every conversation. The manager instead of taking into account the experience of the other diners joined in. Spoke with her about the lack of awareness she exhibited. Food is remarkably ordinary, the waiter was exceptional in trying to make things right, but pass on this place, clearly they are more interested regulars than new business.
Edit, one of the owners called to apologize on behalf of the customer i guess because of my complaint to the manager. Interesting the apology was for the individual, not the business but hey he reached out. According to the individual who described himself as the owner it is a delicate situation. Offered apologies, to comp the meal, hey its a local business, the usual stuff. That ship sailed. You cant right a wrong after the fact. We were there, we ate, free food doesnt alter the experience. It seems scotch plains detectives can behave in a manner that would get anyone else tossed to the curb. Two organizations should be embarrassed, grano and...
Read moreThis is my friend and her husband's local date nigh spot. They rave about the food and service. My first time there and felt compelled to write a review. Love a well run, quality food/drink small business with a family vibe.
Generous, beautifully plated portions. The place, including bar, was a continuous full house on a wed night. Immaculate Industrial esthetic. The staff provided excellent customer service including: politeness, attentiveness, professionalism coupled with humor and personality. Max the bartender made spot on drinks and customized as asked. Nino -owner- down to earth with interacted with guest, shared a few of his favorites based when we asked.
Tried the calamari- tender, perfectly seasoned, light crunchy batter. Braised short rib lasagna (I'm not a red sauce girl most of the time but this was the test) sauce wasn't too acidic or sweet, short rib was soft and moist. Tried my friend's shrimp penne vodka - delicious sauce (it's all about the sauce) I'm getting it next time. Other friend had linguine with clams and raved about it.
Expresso martini - think Starbucks meets vodka...Yaaas! Zeppoles - the dough!- Warm, Soft, airy, with a subtle savoriness that was complimented by the...
