Let's start with the positive....
I started coming here a couple of months ago and was very pleasantly surprised with Black Drop's delicious latte's, hot chocolate, and baked goods. The interior design and seating is on point with minimalist decor and great music playing in the background.
The two gentlemen that work there are polite and sweet. The barista (who wears a mask) pays attention to detail and creates lovely designs on the latte's - always a nice touch.
As for the negative, some of the staff are not very friendly or warm. The young woman (who always wears her hair in a ponytail braid) is extremely rude and needs a lesson in customer service. It would also be great if they could get a coat rack or some extra wall hooks for bulky winter coats.
Yesterday the owner received a note from a disgruntled customer in the mail. She read it aloud and started complaining to her customers. I found that to be extremely unprofessional - why the need to air out your dirty laundry in front of everyone? Wouldn't it be more productive to have a meeting with your staff after hours and address the issue privately?
I went back the next day and saw something even more shocking. The owner decided to publicly display the note by the back entrance (see the picture I uploaded for reference). The note read "You and your staff are so unprofessional and snotty. Try and set a better example."
I read through the negative reviews for Black Drop and was appalled to discover the owner's response to some of these reviews. It's disheartening to see the owner's lack of accountability and immaturity. Please listen to your customers - they want to be heard! I have faith you guys can do better and...
Read moreHmm, so it seems my other review was removed, likely due to policy violation of posting the same one on a non-G site. I had written here a few examples that support other reviews of the rude ownership, and while I won't write it here again, I did want to include the response I got from the owner. While it's lovely that she pointed out that some of what she said wasn't directed at me, I strongly believe that if this is how she feels, she picked the wrong industry to work in. Unfortunate since this place is so convenient to go to, but I'll be spending my money elsewhere.
"Response from the owner5 days ago Stung and scolded, WOW! Either this story has been severely dialed up for dramatic effect or the coffee must be really good to keep going back there after such terrible first, second, third, fourth, fifth.....countless times you have been in. This is what I don't have regard, or tolerance for are people with superiority complexes, entitlement issues, or a lack of decency once you leave your living room. This is not just addressed toward you, Amanda, but anyone that comes in, takes off your socks & shoes to put your bare feet on the furniture, tries to flush coffee lids and straws down the toilet, rearranges the furniture to your liking, leaves spills and messes only to assume that "the girl will get it". So yes, it's not too much to ask for you to put back the 'lightweight' furniture. My 7 year old reminds me daily that all the basics in life we learn in Kindergarten: be polite, wash your hands, push in your chair and clean up your own mess. At what age do we all forget that? Please, from now on, take your business and your lack of respect...
Read moreNew favorite place! For about 2 months working remotely, (to keep things exciting) I pick a new coffee spot to go to once a week to try out. This is definitely the winner! Bonus- itâs only about 10 minutes from my house! I ordered ahead, to pick up- âThe Uptownâ which is- A Black Drop twist on a classic. Currant Standard iced tea with our lemon mint iced cubes & a âLavender Latteâ which is - Housemade lavender vanilla syrup, our award winning espresso with my choice, almond milk. (Seasonal drinks) absolutely amazing! So tasty! I was getting these drinks for me and another person, by the time I got back my partners drink was already almost gone. (Haha) Also, donât want to forget; I LOVE, love!- the interior of the coffee shop too! Super chill spot, canât wait to bring my laptop next time so I can enjoy my drink, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the atmosphere of the establishment. I am a huge âtea personâ and after getting the Uptown, I canât wait to try all of their teas! Super tasty- bonus the tastiest, most creative ice cubes I have ever seen. Definitely recommend!...
