I have to say this place is pretty cool. I was a little early for a golf lesson with Charles Lee. So I had an opportunity to walk around and check the place out. Everything is clean and very modern. The colorful artwork all over helps offset the darkness of the golfing bays. The folks running the font desk were super helpful and polite.
Golf can be intimidating, and not always approachable due to the exclusivity in it's history, and some courses today. This place is approachable for all ages and walks of life. Which is great for the game of golf. While waiting I had a chance to watch a lesson from another instructor. The instructor was working with a younger student, 10-12 age, and he did a great job working with this younger golfer.
My lesson itself was great. Charles spent a few moments at the start getting to know me. What I want to work on, and a goal I'm trying to achieve with my golf game. I hit a few balls, giving Charles an opportunity to see my swing, and look for one thing to focus on. Focusing on too many things at once can be more harmful than good. So having to work on one aspect of my swing was helpful.
He was able to show me what I was doing on the video of my swing. I liked seeing that from the two different angles. It helped me visualize my own body mechanics. I would say to wear a lighter colored shirt so you can see yourself better. I had on a black shirt, which was washed out with the black walls. The dark walls help when hitting so I understand why they are dark.
For the lesson itself we focused on hitting with just a 7 iron. After a few practice swings, and some ball striking I was able to see the difference in what I was doing before. As the lesson progressed I was consistently hitting about 20 yards farther than before. I was also hitting straighter shots more consistently too. Charles was very professional, and he put things in ways that helped me understand different parts of my swing. I would definitely hit him up for another lesson.
I have some solid range time to look...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of taking a golf lesson with Alex Race, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. If you're in the Seattle area and looking for a knowledgeable and helpful golf instructor, Alex is definitely your guy!
From the moment I met Alex it was evident that he possessed a wealth of golf expertise. His deep understanding of the game and keen eye for detail were immediately apparent. Throughout the lesson, he focused on refining my backswing, weight transfer, and maintaining a closed club face. With his guidance, I witnessed noticeable improvements in my swing technique.
One aspect that truly enhanced the learning process was the use of the simulator. It provided instant feedback on my swing, allowing me to make necessary adjustments on the spot. This combination of practical instruction and real-time analysis was invaluable. I appreciated how Alex tailored his teaching approach to my individual needs, ensuring I grasped the concepts effectively.
Aside from his technical expertise, Alex's teaching style was both patient and encouraging. He created a relaxed and supportive environment, which made it easier for me to absorb the information and apply it to my game. His passion for golf was infectious, and it was evident that he genuinely wanted to see his students succeed.
Overall, I cannot recommend Alex Race enough as a golf instructor. His combination of knowledge, patience, and use of cutting-edge technology makes for an outstanding learning experience. Whether you're a beginner seeking to develop a solid foundation or an experienced golfer looking to fine-tune your skills, Alex is the person to go to. Read moreWow - Five iron Golf is a gem of a facility in the heart of Capitol Hill near downtown Seattle. The staff and facility are top notch! I recently went in for a full bag fitting with Greg Enbusk and what an experience it was. I've been fit by Top 50 fitters, Club Champion, and other reputable fitters, and Greg's knowledge was top notch. He really knows his stuff, answered all my questions, and gave me exactly what I was hoping to get out of the fitting - a blueprint for my next set of clubs. The best part of it was he didn't have the hard sales pitch you get at Club Champion and other places that are pushing you towards the exotic shafts and most expensive clubs. He was genuinely focused on fitting the best equipment for my swing, regardless of cost. I could not recommend the full bag fitting more - you are not tied to a club purchase like other fitting places, and the information you gain will be incredibly valuable to your golf game going forward. The Full Bag studio fitting would benefit a beginning to a scratch handicap. Getting the right shaft in your clubs makes an incredible difference! PGA Tour Superstores built these fitting studios in Five iron Golf to bring the full fitting experience where they don't have their stores. This is not your big box retail store fitting. The right fit clubs make all the difference....
