The food was fantastic and delicious. Can't praise it enough. The reason why I am giving such a low rating is the poor service. We arrived on a Sunday morning at 11. I understand, it's peak time. We were given a wait time of one hour or less. That's understandable, my party all expected this. However it took an hour and a half to get a table and when we were seated about half of the tables were empty but ready for seating. It is my understanding that they don't take reservations. It took about five minutes to get menus and water and another 10-15 for them to finally get around to taking our order. We ordered drinks (coffee and tea- not cocktails) as well as brunch. The food came first about 30-45 min after ordering and was staggered with several minutes between orders. Then we waited, still no drinks. Finally after some effort I flagged down a lady who I was unsure about her role - was she our waitress or hostess or someone else - and politely asked if our drinks were coming. Turns out she was our waitress. She immediately got defensive and said the food always comes out before drinks. (In what universe are beignets faster to make than drip coffee?) She didn't give an encouraging ETA. Finally she did come back with two drink orders (tea and an espresso drink) but not the "bottomless" drip coffee. Literally the easiest item on our ticket. I'm not sure if she was punishing me or not. Finally at least five minutes later as I'm about to flag her down again (beignets getting cold) I see her getting my coffee. I was not offered a refill for the duration of our meal. Also my friend said her drink had been sitting there awhile as when it was delivered it was lukewarm. Frustrated because I wanted to really relax and enjoy this little cafe but the service left me anxious...
Read moreTo structure this review, I want to clarify that I usually rate things out of ten, with a 7 being the equivalent of a 5 on a regular scale due to its common use in general reviews. This means a 7 is average, with a 6 and below being subpar. Living in a major city like Seattle, it isn't hard to find a good breakfast spot, but on a whim, my girlfriend and I tried this restaurant to see how it stacked up against others.
To start, we ordered our drinks. I had a Honey-moon-spritz, and my girlfriend ordered the in-season permanent hot cocoa. While neither were horrible, I felt the syrup in my drink was a bit overwhelming. Additionally, adding coconut water or a coconut bubble could have elevated the drink, potentially mitigating the strong alcohol taste. My girlfriend's hot cocoa was subpar, lacking the marshmallow the waiter mentioned it would have and tasting more like Nesquik. Personally, I would change the milk type to evaporated milk, starting with the chocolate powder or actual chocolate bar, then adding water if needed before incorporating the milk.
For our entrees, I ordered an Egg Benedict, and my spouse ordered a BLT with a side of fries. Although the Benedict was perfectly cooked with a solid but jello-like exterior and a runny yolk, it needed more salt, which also applied to my side of potatoes. I believe they would benefit from pink Himalayan salt specifically. The same could be said for my girlfriend's fries. Overall, the meal had a solid price for all we got, but my only issue is that the food needed some elevation. On my personal scale, it lands at a...
Read moreGirls, PLEASE be CAREFUL if you dine in this café!! There are male staffs go to the Woman restroom!
Today I had a very unsafe and creepy experience at here. After I having lunch with my friend here today, I went to the restroom. When I entered the woman restroom, it was only myself. I chose one of the stall and entered. Then I heard someone came into the restroom as well and went to the stall next to me. Shockingly I saw that guy wearing a pair of men shoes through the bottom space of the door. When I hesitated whether that’s a woman wearing a man shoes, I noticed his toe direction is towards the toilet (standing) while women’ s toe should be against the toilet (sitting)! Then I instantly went out the bathroom, and waiting outside to see if there’s a man goes out. But next, I saw a another male staff coming out of the kitchen and directly went to the women’s restroom. I almost can’t believe my eyes! Then I double checked the sign, it’s a woman-only restroom!! I instantly went back to the dining hall and told this to my friend and a server. The server said she will tell this to her manager. It’s definitely not by chance or due to the negligence. They are the staff of the cafe and should be familiar with which is woman restroom and which is men’s. It’s definitely on purpose, because they (kitchen staff) saw I went to the woman restroom alone.
Oddfellow’ manager, if you saw this review, please take it seriously ! I can’t imagine what the male staff want to do in women’s restroom. And also warn the future female customers to be careful and...
