I'm not sure I agree with the 5-star ratings. I've had many pieces tailored before, at high end wedding dress tailors or at Nordstrom and I think this place's work is probably one of the lowest.
Problems I encountered: My clothes smelled pretty bad, abit rotten and the smell cannot be easily taken care of as the pieces can only be dry cleaned. 2nd problem: not following clear instructions. A dress which I specifically asked the top area not to be taken in, was taken in. When I tried it on, it was too tight and a struggle to put on. I had a shirt that was too wide, so I agreed to use darts. The theory is good but the execution was done poorly. It left me with a weird looking tail flinging around in the back and tight sleeves connecting to the back. There were a lot of loose threads underneath. So it doesn't feel my pierces were taken care of or it's a quality tailor. When you try on the pieces, the curtains couldn't fully close so if there's someone waiting already, there's pretty much minimal privacy one can expect.
Overall, I have to get 2 of the pieces re-done and the 3rd one she had to fix. It definitely felt rushed as they have a substantial turn-around time as well. The pro is that their pricing is reasonable.
Full disclosure, I was late to my appointment for 15min so I wonder if that could be a reason for the...
Read moreI had the most wonderful experiences with Rachel at Frayed Threads Mending! I brought her a couple pairs of pants that needed zipper help, a pair that had wear and tear at the seams that I wasn't ready to give up yet, a button issue on a sweatshirt, belt loops tearing on another pair of pants, and seamless shorts that the thread had undone. I even had a pair of pants with a black strip on the sides that was ripping and getting pieces of microfiber all over.
I wasn't sure what to expect or if she could even fix my wide range of issues, but found her to be extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. Rachel offered excellent solutions for each item, quoted me fairly, and got them done in two weeks! The ones I had zipper issues I was positive I would need them likely both replaced and would probably be worth more than the pants themselves, but Rachel found a way to work with the zippers I had and fix the source of the issue. I am very pleased with her work and getting a second life to some of my favorite items/pants! She will also quote you and there is no pressure to proceed, which made me feel comfortable asking about a few things I was on the fence about. ...
Read moreI had a vintage formal dress I purchased from an online shop for an event, and it was much too big in the bodice. I emailed Rachel to ask if she thought it fit within the services she provided, and then booked an appointment. Rachel was helpful in giving me an estimate based on the amount of time she thought it would take. It was completed within the time-frame she estimated, and I was happy to get an email notifying me it was ready and that she had only charged for the time spent (less than she estimated). It was a VERY reasonable price, and I think most tailors would have charged a more. I tried it on at pickup and was happy with the alterations. Rachel also did not remove the excess fabric in the event it is repurposed/resold to someone who may need to alter it again. I would happily return to Frayed Threads Mending for future...
