Low key hurts me to give 4 stars as I used to live down the street from the place, went here easily over 50 times and my sister worked here, but it hasn’t changed in a decade and it definitely needs a change soon in terms of interior and vibe… the bagels are great though! And they recently updated the outside signs.entrance so there’s that too. I’ve heard many interesting stories from my sister about working there but none of them terrible to make this lower then a 3 star, and none of them too alarming. Although this is much closer to a 3 star then a 5 star I will say that. Just come here for the bagels, and eat it at a park nearby. The shared bathrooms are pretty disgusting and the space feels kinda dreary and dirty, so trust me when I say just quickly getting your bagel and don’t dine in. Also, don’t get anything else then a bagel…unless you really want it, but its a bagel shop, so don’t be that guy who gets the weird soup or whatever. (Again unless you really want it) After living down the street from this place for 16+ years, my go to order was a sourdough bagel and either normal cream cheese or strawberry cream cheese. That’s another thing, their cream cheese’s are homemade and very very good, try them. This is probably the longest review I’ve ever written and I could probably go on but I’ll stop here. Enjoy if you do go.

I had heard several people saying that Bagel Oasis had the best NY style bagels in Seattle so I ventured in to see for myself. I don’t consider myself at all an expert on NY style bagels but I know what tastes good and their bagels weren’t too bad. I visited on a Saturday late in the morning. There were a lot of tables to choose from and some chairs. I ended up ordering a sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese and then an everything and a blueberry bagel untoasted and with nothing on them. The sesame bagel was pretty good – it tasted good, had a good amount of sesame seeds and the toasting made it taste pretty good. The cream cheese they used was good as well. The everything bagel was good with a good mixture of everything seasoning. The blueberry bagel wasn’t bad either – I think the blueberries gave it a higher moisture content making it less chewy and thicker. A few things that I thought could be improved were the size of the bagels. You get enough bagel but the hole in the middle was pretty big. My main issue was that the bagels were extremely chewy. My jaw was exhausted after eating the bagels – toasted and untoasted. Overall, I would return as it is better than the chains and supermarkets.

The pricing just doesn’t add up. I came here specifically to get a bagel with strawberry cream cheese (I credit my childish taste to my pregnancy cravings. I just really wanted strawberry cream cheese). When it was handed to me, I was disappointed by how little there was on there. I asked the employee helping me for more, and was advised “they usually charge for that”. I tried to justify myself and showed them, as visually, there just wasn’t much there. “It melts when it’s hot” ….okay. To break it down, for flavored cream cheese on a bagel, they charge $4. They price their take home tubs of cream cheese at $8. Logically, there should be half a tubs (4 oz) worth of cream cheese here before anything extra is charged. I’ve never been here before, and for a $7 bagel, I’m not impressed enough to come back.

It was just okay. The cashier was friendly enough but spoke very quietly and was hard to hear, but they gave no fuss when I asked for something slightly different than how it’s presented on the menu. The menu is too large, and very hard to read even standing right at the counter. They would benefit by cutting down the amount of items and designing a more cohesive menu board.

The bagels were very tough and chewy. They skimp on the amount of lox they put on the bagel by a lot, it’s basically one tiny thin piece. The egg bagel tasted like the eggs and sausage had been sitting around for awhile even though we had ordered inside.

Coffee was very underwhelming. Weak shots from what taste like burnt beans and they didn’t even mix our chocolate into the drink it just sat in a puddle on the bottom of our cups.

The rest of the staff all had a very permanent scowl on their face. I understand that not everyday at work will have you grinning and skipping around, but the dead-eyed bored teenager vibe is a huge turn off. I find this attitude is usually a result of poor management or owners that are overbearing. Treat your staff better- they seem miserable. One of the workers also looked very unhygienic but luckily he did not handle my food. The cashier was the friendliest one there.

Overall it was fine, but I don’t think I would pay $30 for two bagels and two coffees from here again. They need to tighten up their ship...

Bagels. I mean, bagels... NOT the dreaded: BREAD DOUGHNUT. The real thing... Boiled for a durable outside, still bready and chewy inside. Something magical about them still warm from the oven I have never been able to replicate. My review is only about the bagels. Best plain bagels in Seattle IMHO. Pumpernickle and sourdough also rock. One of the best blueberry anywhere, though they may have recently changed flour, and they don't toast as delicately as they did in 2023, not sure why. For months of storage, I split them for the toaster, and freeze them as 3-packs in quart Zip-loc bags, stacked. If you don't split them first, the out/insides shrink differently, and you get ugly gaps.

The place is set w/ built in 4-8 tops, but in my limited experience, driving from West5, never crowded. I am sure they have a busy time, I've just never been bothered by it. Often staffed with young folks, always pleasant so far in my experience.

Closing time is as rush hour starts. Parking is sparse at times, plentiful other times, the same with traffic. Crossing the street is doable, but requires patience. There are lights over a block away, but little cross traffic in this neighborhood. Side street parking is dodgy w/ all the residences nearby. I have not made use of the kitchen or schmear case much, but they did a fine job every time I did in the past. No punch cards any more, they use another method...

Most recent confirmation: a single bagel is now just shy of $10. The highest in all of seattle! What a joke.

This place is crap. The girl helping me literally wandered away. The old man who was supposed to finish my order basically said it wasn’t his job. My bagel has been sitting in the toaster for four minutes...

There are six employees standing around chatting about boys and not a single wiped down table. This is gross. The owner spends so much time on social media and responding to reviews instead of getting it together and working. Such a waste.

UPDATE: welcome to 2020. It’s been a while but I decided to give this place another shot... regret. A tide of regret is coming over me. Four staff members milling about doing nothing which makes sense because my SINGLE BAGEL COST FIVE DOLLARS!!!!!! I mean what the actual hell. Five dollars for one bagel??!!? You’re insane.

UPDATE: The price is now $6 for a single bagel. What the heck. Yes inflation but how is this more than a lunch??

UPDATE: confirmed!!!! Saw a receipt from a friend. Bagel and cream cheese is now $7.50. That’s $3.25 for cream cheese. That’s the price of a tub of cream cheese for just a quick spread on a bagel. Luckily, there are so many better places nearby. Send this one packing. Vile. Oh and the cream cheese, pictures from everyone confirm - there’s...
