They have STOLEN/LOST sensitive documents such as my passport and the original of my court order, such a hassle to replace and will cost me money to fix their mistake they will not fix. This seems downright illegal especially for a government agency.
They were very unhelpful and claims that I "went to the wrong location", there is only one SSA in Aurora. This is before they accepted walk-ins, I was in the process of getting my name changed and updating my documents. I turned in an application with the correct document in March (original copy of my court order, SS-5, and original copy of my passport) and had dropped it off with the security guard as directed by an employee when I called.
I've called a couple times asking for the status of my application and each time they've said it's being processed, last time they had spoken to me about this they had put me on hold as they had a difficult time finding the copy of my application in their office.
I had called their office again this month as I have neither received my passport or whether or not it has been approved, they claim there is no existence of my application and to go into the office. Doing so, they tell me that my application does not exist, that I have not even applied, and they have none of my documents. They kept asking the same questions about the staff I've talked to (how can I remember faces or exact first names with a very bad turn-over rate there) and whether or not I've called the correct office as well. I used the official SS website to find their phone number.
I've explained the process several times, that I've done everything correctly and they have at least asked the same question if I had "gone to the correct location" or "if my documents were original" or "if it's possible I never had an application to begin with". They continued to ask me the same questions over and over, very deaf and stubborn. My partner had driven me and has seen me hand-in my application to the security guard as the drop box was not available at the time. She saw me do this in the car as she waited in front of the office.
They continually denied their mistake. Since then, I've reported my passport as stolen and have contacted a few WA state congressmen due to Social Security being neglectful and concerningly careless. I do not know who to approach or go to for this. I should not be liable for their mistake and the fact that they've lost important identification means that they will remain irresponsible and unorganized with your own information as well.
Do not go here, do not use your passport as identification if you are dropping off documents. Get a temporary copy of your driver's license to keep before using your original just in case that gets...

If you want to make the best use of your time here: come with the required forms of ID. come with the paperwork filed out, as best you can. if youāre having payment issues, bring your bank ABA routing and account number (a check will do). come 30 minutes before the posted opening time. Earlier, and youāll be wasting time. no cell phone yacking. It is rude, and youāre not that important.
And then, listen for your number, and watch the monitor.
To address the people with all the problems in the comments: donāt bring your dog. There is no place for dogs. the security guard is very helpful. I saw him inform a guy, who was yacking on his phone, that his number was up. this place is very clean. So is the rest room. Most likely, much cleaner than the Karenās bathrooms. when they say āoriginalā documents they donāt mean the one issued to you at birth. They mean one authenticated by the state. It is very easy to get a new one if you lost it (I did).
Get your cr@p together, organize it, and stop blaming other people for your own lack of preparation.
If you miss your number, because you left, or youāre yacking on your phone, yes you will need to get another number.
Life is very hard here. Itās like prison,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came to update the citizenship status and we filled out the application online before hand. On the website, there was no possible way to make an appointment (it might be hidden somewhere). We checked in and waited for two hours until the lady in window 4 today at around 1:53 pm called us just to say that we have to wait an extra 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. As we were questioning what she meant by that, she started raising her voice at us and was very rude and disrespectful. I informed her that there is no need for her to raise her voice at us because we can hear her very well and we were speaking to her very respectfully. She was yelling to the point where it almost came out as a scream. We refused to make an appointment with her or wait in the lobby because she was extremely disrespectful. Waisted 2+ hours of our life with no outcome. She was an old white lady with a short haircut. This job is not for people who have short temps and if she is going to continue with that attitude with customers, then maybe she should retire or find another job. We all have jobs and are all very patient with customers, but we didnāt even raise our voice for her to go off on us like that. Have some manners next time and remember that you should be professional at work. Very...
