Emerald City Smoothie — Restaurant in Seattle

FRANCHISE WITH DIFFERENT RECIPES, WATERED DOWN SMOOTHIES LACKING FLAVOR! My boyfriend and I have been going to emerald city for years and we have been to a lot of different locations throughout the Greater Seattle area but for the last year and a half this location has been closest so we’ve came here more often. Every time we go here our smoothies taste watered down, icy and lack flavor and when I tell them what’s wrong and ask them to remake it, it rarely tastes better. I always get the same smoothie and at other locations it can vary based on what employee makes it but it’s always still good, not here. The same 2 young girls made my smoothie every time we went so I assumed the issue was that they just didn’t make smoothies how I liked, but the last time I was there there was an older/middle aged man working and my smoothie was still watered down and lacked flavor. One of the young girls that I’ve seen before called the man dad. So I finally realized the issue is that this location is a family owned franchise. They use different recipes than other locations and cheap out on certain ingredients. I don’t like asking to have my drink remade, and I usually don’t, but I’ve asked them to remake my drink almost every time I’ve went there because it’s a reoccurring issue and the smoothie tastes nothing like it normally does when made anywhere else. When I’ve seen them make my smoothie they filled the blender almost all the way up with ice, and when they remade it, after explaining it was super icy with little flavor, they would ask always if I want it thick or thin, and only put a little less ice in the blender. When they remake it a little less icy, it’s thinner, but I just want normal smoothie consistency and no other location I’ve been to has issues making the smoothies thick but still flavorful. Then I saw them add the tiniest, not full, scoop of sorbet, and mango that I’ve ever seen in my 32oz smoothie. The young girls seemed like they heard my concerns and genuinely tried to remake my smoothie and it tasted a little better sometimes. I bet they’re just following whatever tweaked recipe that they are trained to make by the owner/manager.
