Every once in a while, you stumble upon a place that truly redefines an experience. Dough Joy in West Seattle is one such place, shattering all conventional paradigms of what vegan donuts can be. It is a gastronomic paradise, a haven of plant-based indulgence that serves not just food, but an emotion that transcends the palate, leaving you full of joy.
As soon as you step into Dough Joy, the cheerful, welcoming ambiance envelops you in a heartwarming hug, coupled with the sweet, irresistible aroma of fresh doughnuts being born. The clean and modern aesthetic, with a dash of whimsy, resonates perfectly with the ethos of the establishment - taking a traditional treat and turning it on its head with innovation and mindfulness.
The real magic, though, lies in the mouthwatering array of donuts. Let's be clear - these aren't just 'good for vegan' donuts. These are, simply put, outstanding donuts. Dough Joy has taken the vegan challenge and crafted it into an art form, managing to achieve the elusive trifecta of flavor, texture, and appearance.
Each doughnut, handcrafted with love and passion, packs a soft, moist punch of balanced sweetness, maintaining a heavenly fluffy texture that dissolves into a symphony of flavors in your mouth. The classic glazed is a minimalist masterpiece, while the more adventurous flavors, such as the lavender-infused or the salted caramel pecan, strike the perfect balance between creativity and comfort.
What truly sets Dough Joy apart, though, is its commitment to quality and sustainability. Each ingredient is thoughtfully chosen, supporting local suppliers whenever possible. This dedication extends to the packaging as well, which is eco-friendly, and the service, which is unfailingly warm and knowledgeable.
Whether you are a committed vegan, someone with dietary restrictions, or a lover of all things delicious, Dough Joy provides a unique donut experience that cannot be missed. The donuts themselves are a treat, so if youâre a Basic B there is a Basic B glazed donut for you and itâs excellent! They also absolutely nail the classics like Bavarian Cream and Strawberry/Chocolate glaze. So good.
One of my favorite things about them, though, are the special flavors they introduce every week. I still think about the absolutely spot-on flavor of their cinnamon candy donut back around Halloween last year (pssst, can we bring that one back some time?! For fun?) And the cinnamon bun donut with that icing in the middle?! Whaaaat?! There is so much flavor packed into their icing for some of their varieties, itâs ridiculous. I didnât know you could get that much flavor into icing.
Their coffee drinks hit the spot as well, and come with a fun little treat.
If you hesitate for some reason because vegan, seriously, donât. I have brought these divine donuts to âplant-averseâ family and did not say a WORD and everyone agreed that they were amazing. When I dropped the vegan fact they were like ânnnnooooooo wwwaaaaaayâ and I was like âyes way.â Yes, welcome, it is time to join us in the year 2023 where food is delicious.
So yeah, come on over and give this awesome donut...
Read moreMy wife and I both LOVE Dough Joy. Their doughnuts are absolutely delicious! We are both vegan so itâs so good to have a plant based doughnut shop right around the corner from us in West Seattle. There is usually a long line, especially on weekends, but I donât mind. I will always support small business over large business. The employees are all very friendly and kind and helpful.
I am not sure why there are reviews complaining about pricing. First off, they are vegan, and unfortunately, being vegan and buying vegan products is not cheap. Secondly, they work to pay their staff a livable wage and benefits. In Seattle, that isnât easy. Running a business in Seattle is expensive. Give them a break. They are not a big corporate chain. The pricing is clearly labeled and if itâs too expensive for someone, then they donât have to go there or they can just excuse themselves and walk out the door. If someone is unable to see or read the pricing, just ask the staff. They will gladly assist you. Thank you Dough Joy for your awesome doughnuts! I am a trans queer person who proudly supports a LGBTQ+ owned small business...
