I had a really unfortunate experience here with egregiously rude and unpleasant employees. After being repeatedly treated like a horrendous inconvenience by themâseemingly just for daring to want to buy books thereâthe weirdest moment was when they didnât even seem willing to ring me up. I was approaching the register, eager to leave, and one employee said in a venomous tone: âOh, you have all of that?! Havenât you already bought it?!â Perhaps this was meant as an invitation to walk out with the stuff, because they (the horrible employees) just didnât want to be bothered. Iâve worked in an independent bookstore before, and had my share of difficult days and customers. I attempted to get in and out of the store without causing the employees any unusual stress, yet was treated like an unbearable burden from start to finish of theâmercifully briefâvisit. Their prices are good and they always have an interesting selection at a discounted price towards the front.
Their card selection is on point, too! Easily my #1 stop for birthdays, mother's and father's day cards.
The location is great, right in the middle of downtown Sebastopol. There is parking in the back too.
The staff are ALWAYS kind and helpful. Copperfield's atmosphere is warm and cozy, the perfect vibe when you're looking to explore books and see what...

No problems with customer service, personally. A little uncomfortable with the solicitors sometimes allowed to linger outside, good causes aside. (I'm on my way somewhere, no I don't want to take a survey or save the penguins.) Will continue to shop there, though, as it's the only major bookstore in town and tends to have what I need. Also a handy way to get from the N. High St. lot...
