I attended an interfaith event, "Immigrant Journeys: Immigrant Voices," yesterday [9-21-2018] at Worthington United Methodist Church.
We had heard performances by two different intercultural choirs; we had viewed selected clips from the documentary, "Human Flow," and we had heard spoken messages from three individuals who have experienced forced migration themselves.
The people in attendance, who had represented many different faiths and cultures, had been fully welcomed by Worthington United Methodist Church; the large and beautiful sanctuary of that church had been an ideal location for this very important event that had been sponsored by several central Ohio organizations.
I had arrived at the church about one hour early so I had had a lot of free time to explore the church building before finding my seat near the front of the sanctuary.
I have never before seen a display at a local church that describes how one may contribute, financially, via the internet, to that church. The display at Worthington United Methodist Church had directed people to a specific location within the church building where there is a tablet computer on which one may use a debit card make a contribution; that display also gave directions for downloading a smartphone app by which one may contribute to the church; that display also explained how one may contribute to that church via that church's website.
I had been impressed by Worthington United Methodist Church's efforts to make their building more accessible to people with mobility and sensory impairments. A sign on the door of a non-accessible bathroom had directed visitors to an accessible bathroom; in addition, the edges of the steps to or from a covered walkway between the old building and the new building had been very clearly painted with...
