I bought a car battery from this store in Sheboygan WI. 3 months later during a sub zero cold snap I began having to jump it every time I needed to start my vehicle. The battery cost 256$ and I had a warranty. I drove the car and hour on the freeway to the store I bought it from. The manager was there (same guy that sold it to me) M. Harris. He said the battery was testing fine and they won't honor the warranty. A week later I brought it back because the battery is definitely defective and it's getting much worse and harder to start the car. This time they told me the battery will need to be removed and charged in their shop because it's testing so low. That would take about 4 hours. They tested my alternator and said that was fine. Then he said there's a "ghost charge" that's killing the battery. (It's called a phantom drain BTW) and I will need to take it to the dealership and have them test the car before they will honor the warranty. So I told them to just replace it and that would absolve the warranty and the new battery won't have one. But they didn't have any in stock and it will take a week before they will be able to get another one. It felt like they were just making up every excuse just so they didn't have to honor the warranty!
So.. I was waaaay over charged for a crap battery without any way to resolve this problem without spending a fortune. Otherwise I can just go to farm and fleet and 150$ later have a brand new battery with a real warranty.
Please avoid this place.
(I have a corporate account here from JLL. And we use them for lots of batteries!! I was still treated like I was an idiot and like I have no idea how batteries/ electricity works.)
*update I was given a new battery (I had to swap it out myself in the parking lot) the receipt says that installation was included.. New battery does NOT have a...
Read moreI had to ponder giving a review at all. But after considering, and no follow-up from the manager, I decided to post one.
I purchased a total of 6 batteries for my boat from batteries plus. Two of them were from last year. They were tendered in my garage. I went to install them on the boat this spring. The batteries did not power up my downriggers. I had my Schumacher smart charger in my car, and hooked it up on the batteries for the day. But the batteries failed to charge. I took them to the store and the manager said they would need to charge them before covering under warranty. I totally understand. I was told I would receive a call within 24 hours to let me know if they passed or failed. No call, so I called them. I was then told they need another 24 hours. After calling the store between 7am and 11am, someone finally answered. I was told the batteries passed their test. I came to pick the batteries up 4 days later. But knowing the batteries couldn't be good, I asked them for the analysis of the passed test. They couldn't provide one. I then asked them to carbon pile test the "passed" batteries before I left. What do you know. 316cca one one, and 303 on the second one. Both failed! The associates that were working on Saturday warrantied them out and gave me new ones.
The reason for the 1 star review, is ZERO follow up from the manager, and the manager was the one who told me that they passed just days before!
I spent over $1000 on batteries for my boat with batteries plus. I just wish the launch of my vessel wasn't delayed a week, because the manager chose to lie, and not do the right thing and stand behind their product. It's quite unnerving...
Read moreI wanted to change the battery in my key fob. I walk into battery's plus and explained to the snappy looking young man I needed a battery for THIS fob (as I put it on the table). He proceeds to tell me that they charge $22 to open and replace it when a a two pack is $10.
I thought it was hysterical that such a simple procedure would cost so much. I asked him for a screw driver so I could do it myself, but he couldn't be bother to bothered for one.
So, I told him "I'll go out to the car and pop it open myself and bring you the battery I need." "Ya, ok" he said. Back at the car, with screwdriver in hand I made one swift motion and the cover popped off the fob to expose the battery.
I was almost insulted by the fact he thought I was going to pay to have a 30 second job done for me. I was wearing my dirty work clothes which show obvious signs that I work with my hands and do things myself. I couldn't believe they we're selling such a bogus buy.
Leaving, I noticed the only other car in the parking lot was a very nice Audi. I couldn't help but think this, maybe, 25 year old kid working at battery's plus kid hadn't worked a hard day in his life and didn't know what hard work looks like. Clearly.
Probably why he assumed I needed help with such a simple task.
The key fob works great and the range has almost doubled! I'll be replacing the battery in the other fob from the two...
