I have been hunting for a high-quality 70 or 80's vintage turntable for a long time. I found one at a sale nicky's attic was doing in Ashford Connecticut. When I call to explain I was going to be 20 minutes late but I really wanted the turntable the woman was very nice and said they would wait for me. Once I arrived she was in the garage and said her husband had the turntable he was in the house locking up. Doing my research I couldn't find the turntable for less than $100 in any condition and was prepared to pay that without negotiating because they waited for so long. He said he had cleaned the dust of while he waited and gave me a more then fair price of $60. I said I would take it - he replied that was easy your supposed to negotiate with me I explained I was happy they waited and would feel bad to ask for anything cheaper. He said I will give it to you for 1/2 what I found it for online the other night doing my research hows 50 bucks. He did use his phone to show me screenshots from his research and it wasn't from that day because it was about 30 or 40 pictures behind others. He did not look it up in front of me all he wanted to do was show me it was a sound deal. One I was happy to get. We all use our phones the problem is most people confuse Estate sales with Tag sales Estate companies need to educate themselves with all the items to get money for the homeowners and their business as well. Tag sale you can find much better deals because it's a homeowner selling their own stuff and seldom research each item. I'm pleased to post this review after reading the few bad ones online. I did not have the same experience they had and I find it hard to believe that the women I met or her husband are ever rude seeing it's such a word of mouth business they are in. We placed items we had picked out aside with our number & name on it as instructed since the owner wasn’t there to give us a price. Although we were there during posted hours, the owner wasn’t there & person who was wasn’t allow to price items. We followed up with a phone call since we hadn’t heard back & I had to explain my items that were placed on hold & owner said she would call back with a price. I never heard back. So, I drive back to business & owner is there, she’s not friendly at all, asked me where my merchandise was & when we show her which chair it was placed on (with our contact info on it), she casually says, “oh, I must have moved it. What did you have?” Only a few items we had picked out were there & after asking twice for a price & being asked multiple times where we found an item in her store she gave a high price & at that point I had had enough & I didn’t want to waste my time doing business with her since she obviously is more concerned with collecting stuff than selling stuff. And I don’t mind a slightly messy store, but hers was beyond messy that made shopping hard. Multiple signs saying wear a mask & there she was, with no mask on, but expects customers to wear one. Not a good first experience...
