I visited today and quietly rolled my $5,000.00 road bike into the store, but was abruptly met by the owner saying, "No bikes, no bikes." I told him, "Really? Well, no customer for life then." He probably allows a baby stroller, or a person with a walker, or even a mom pulling a wagon, but not my bike. The roads were dry, and my bike was not muddy or dripping anything onto his floor, or blocking customer flow. It's a classic bodega. The staff are suspicious, the goods are overpriced, the selection is limited -that it hasn't been replaced by a 7-11 or a Plaid Pantry is what's most remarkable. If I'm supposed to be starry-eyed about it being a family business that's not a mark in it's favor because that's about all that's noteworthy about this place.
