Updated review (12/09/23): Another return trip. Service was still great. Most everything was delicious and as expected. The bluefin nigiri and salmon roll both had a slight fishy smell and taste, but the regular tuna nigiri and salmon sashimi were both fresh and delicious. Everything else was great as well. Maybe they switched suppliers or maybe they're holding on to stock just a bit too long. I think we'll end up taking another long break and see if they get it sorted. At 30-50 per person, it's too expensive to have anything sub par when visiting.
Updated review (8/16/23): I'm not entirely sure what happened here, but this is the first time I've eaten here and gotten sick. In about a dozen or so visits personally and another dozen or so by my family, and a couple of take out orders as well, it's never happened until today. Today (yesterday now, 8/15/23) we ordered a take out order. 3 rolls, a couple of appetizers, and some nigiri. The order said 55 minutes and it took exactly that, no big deal. We left and one of my kids went ahead and ate her California roll and salmon nigiri, all good, looked good, right color, everything went well.
I put the bag in one of our cooler bags that had some frozen stuff in it. I went to adjust some things so they wouldn't fall over. I know I should have went in and questioned the color of the tuna nigiri right away, but I didnt. Upon arriving home, I put it all on the counter, got the kids to bed and my wife asks me about the color. This is maybe an hour since we picked up the order and all was still in the cooler bag. I told her not to worry about it, maybe there was a mistake and they put in the wrong nigiri. I should have known better when I opened the container and the slightly fishy smell came out, but I forged ahead. The spicy tuna roll tasted off, and had a fishy smell as well. Being foolish, I also ate tuna nigiri, which also had a similar scent on top of the discoloration. I say discoloration but for perspective, the color was more that of a dark part of whitefish than a tuna.
Continuing to eat through the food, I cut into the monkey brain, same smell, and same foolishness, I ate it. My wife ate her jalapeno bomb and, with the flavor being off, it made her stop. She decided against eating her own spicy tuna roll. Foolishly, I also ate that at her recommendation that we don't let it go to waste.
Now here we are 6 hours after the order, at 1:30am, updating a previously favorable review to one that says to be careful. Namely because all of it came back up after the last stomach turning couple of hours. Maybe a cooler failed? Maybe their ac couldn't deal with the 105 degree day? No matter the cause, all of the tuna related products I ate have since swam away down the toilet bowl. Disappointed to say the least.
I still love the service here. There's one staff member that waits tables early on weekends and seems to be responsible for packing to go orders and cleaning tables during the week, and she's positively amazing. My daughter loves her being there and helping us every time, even if she asks for a lollipop every time and they seem to be out of them always.
We'll probably go back and try again one day, but I suspect it won't be as soon or as often as we previously did.
Original review: Amazing service, delicious food, great dining experience all around. This place has some of the best sushi I've had anywhere, hands down. The tuna and salmon melt in your mouth. The California rolls are fantastic, rainbow roll is amazing, and the spicy tuna is out of this world. The quality and attention to detail, including an amazing presentation, it is worth the price. I'm looking forward to coming...

I recently celebrated my 65th birthday at KOMO Sushi, and I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, thanks to my wonderful wife, Mary, who chose this fantastic spot. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
The sushi and sashimi at KOMO are truly exceptional. Each piece is crafted with precision and care, showcasing the freshest ingredients and vibrant flavors. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and every bite melted in my mouth. It’s clear that the chefs take great pride in their craft, and it shows in the presentation and taste of each dish.
To start our meal, we indulged in two appetizers that I cannot recommend highly enough: the Monkey Balls and the Monkey Brain. The Monkey Balls were a delightful surprise—crispy on the outside and filled with a savory mixture that was bursting with flavor. They were a perfect way to kick off our meal. The Monkey Brain, on the other hand, was a unique and delicious dish that combined rich flavors and textures, leaving us wanting more. Both appetizers set the tone for the incredible meal that followed.
As we savored our sushi and sashimi, we couldn’t help but appreciate the attention to detail in every aspect of our dining experience. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal.
In conclusion, KOMO Sushi is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi and a memorable dining experience. My birthday celebration was made all the more special by the fantastic food and warm atmosphere. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their incredible menu!
Thank you, Mary, for such a wonderful...
Read moreDid you know the best Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at is in Sherwood Oregon?
No? Neither did I until tonight.
Sit-down sushi was on my mind and not a lot of places are open. Even fewer open on Mondays. KOMO was and was sitting with 4.9 stars. Why not?
This establishment is an oasis of class and grace in a strip mall desert. Not much to look at from the outside, except a professional sign above it.
Inside, COViD protocols firmly in place and a very well laid out space. Seating and menus and respectful service.
A great selection of appetizers, bento, noodles and sushi. Start with the pork and taro egg roll. These were handmade by one of the owners from her recipe. The come out, dainty things, but looking crisp. So delicious! Something I know I will be craving later.
Sushi rolls next. All delicious with fresh, expertly prepared ingredients. I won't detail what was ordered, I'm sure you will find the same with whatever you order.
Dessert. Dessert? In a Japanese restaurant? Oh yes. Intrigued, I ordered the Japanese crepe dessert. 12 layers of crepe and cream and chocolate sauce on the side. I will always leave room to order this in future visits and there will be many future visits.
Please visit and support, you are not likely to find many dining opportunities of this quality...
