At approximately 10:30, I was rudely told to get out of the mall by a woman only identified as the mall manager. She said that I was loitering and no loitering was allowed. However, the Mall opens early and I was there at 10 AM when the doors open and I was waiting for the shops to open and they do not open until 11 AM. I work from home and had my own power equipment, my own internet and my laptop to abide my time well until the shops opened. I was sitting in the area right outside the mall office and there was an older white gentleman sitting next to just sitting there and he was not bothered by my presence. He left and continued walking around the mall looking in shops but not buying anything. There were others also sitting and others walking ( seniors who are known as “mall walkers” doing exercise.) No one was buying anything. The manager walked up to me and rudely spoke to me saying to get my stuff and stop freeloading and loitering and that I should go to library and this isn’t an Internet cafe. When she initially approached me she said she wanted to know if they could clean up the drink that I had spilled on accident and I said yes, that I was looking for something to clean it up but that I didn’t see anything there in the food court and was waiting till things opened. I responded that she was being rude and could have been kinder in her approach and she told me again that I was loitering but never addressed the man sitting just a few feet in front of me who was doing the same thing except not doing any work. I had my own personal power source and my own equipment to reiterate that I was not violating any mall rules. I have video to support my claim. No one else was asked to leave or purchase anything, yet she stated that the reason she was asking me to leave was because I wasn’t buying anything and she didn’t want me freeloading or bothering anyone. I stated I do buy and I was going to buy my food and drinks as soon as the shops opened. At the moment she walked up on me, I was in the middle of finishing up and email and listening to a message from my boss on my phone which came in at 11:04 AM . The shops open at 11:00. She then proceeded to call security . When he arrived, she claimed she called them to remove a portable scaffold, but then said get her away from me. I never approached her, and had immediately got up and began removing my equipment from the start. I asked her why she didn’t tell anyone else to leave and she claimed they were not loitering. Oh and I cleaned up my drink as soon I was able to get something to clean it up with. I have video and photos to...
Read moreAlthough we'd been to movies at the theater here a few times, this was the first time we'd actually walked around the mall itself. Kiddo and I were looking to kill time while waiting for the kittens to be done at the vet. My first impression, once we walked past the movie theater at the entrance to the food court, was one of shock and sadness. This obviously had been a vibrant, active mall in the past, but now there was only one vendor in the food court: Subway. All other vendor locations were stripped of contents, down to and including most of the appliances. Frankly, my heart ached for the loss of lifestyle, jobs, businesses, and social opportunities that those empty spaces represented. As we walked around the rest of the mall, it didn't improve. Even the hair salons were no longer open. Half the stores were empty and dark. At least one of the large retailers that used to anchor the mall (I think it might have been Sears, but I'm not sure) had packed up and left. Strikingly to me, as I reflected on my own youth and malls at that time, I only saw one mall walker. Yes, it was about 10am on a Tuesday, but this is an area known for snowbirds and birders, so it would be reasonable to expect to see a fair number of retirees. We did meet the lovely manager of Candy World. She told us that online shopping is causing mall shops to close and hair stylists are working from home because it's cheaper - the same story that is happening to malls all over the country. So am I telling you not to go? Absolutely not! Support local businesses and the places you once loved. If we don't, the next time we want them they'll be gone. I'll end with a particular plug for Candy World. Along with having a fantastic array of candy (reminiscent of my Gen X childhood, along with current offerings) and being authorized sellers for See's Candy, they sell the most scrumptious ice cream. Butter pecan has been my favorite for years, and theirs was absolutely delicious! Well...
Read moreT-Mobile The sales team will tell you whatever you want to hear to sell you anything! If you're plan is already discounted, don't expect an additional discount from employer programs, even if they say you will. They'll even ask you to leave out the back door, because a counter is on the door, and that's what their projected sales are based off of. Yes, he actually told me that and escorted me to the back door. They'll tell you to call customer service and customer service will tell you it has to be handled in the store. I registered multiple times for my employer discount, I was told to wait 1-2 billing cycles for it to take effect. 1-2 billing cycles later, nothing. I call and they say it isn't registered. I repeated this game several times. Finally, someone online told me that since my plan was already under a special promotion, that an additional discount wouldn't apply. So needless to say I should have stayed with Verizon, and I tell everyone that is looking for a phone my horror stories about this place and recommend...
